  1. We did not change our rear end. We did however change over the drive shaft as it was necessary to change the one end to match up with the new transmission. It is running great except for a couple little parts needed.
  2. We bought a 55 -400 with an automatic that was no good, found a complete T-85 setup with all the parts and converted the car. Boy does it drive nice now! Only part do not have correct yet it the speedometer gear in the transmission. Running one which is one tooth less than we need and speed seems some what accurate.
  3. Thank you for the welcome I am sorry you thought I was saying you were name calling I was not. I was simply saying lets be positive not negative, this hobby maybe dying with the present older generation. The young people only think foreign cars. Therefore we have to do all we can to be a positive not negative force. We can not argue between us we have to do all we can to make this hobby survive! Saw reference to Lionel books caught eye as collect late 40's Lionel. Yes there are many postive threads up on line and I have gotten much information on my new 55-400 from them.

I see with interest the PI Judging handbook was mentioned. I have a copy of this book in my possesion. Now lets talk about one of their points, Exhaust manifolds on the 55-56, according to their judging manual they were to be engine color. Now gentlemen just how long is that going to last and how much smell as it burns off? Yes, it has many good ideas in it but there are also points that are not correct. Other points that you have been discussing from their manual: Hood pad - they state standard on seniors, optional on juniors. Fender panels - primary fender color. 56 hood hinges are cad plated while the springs are black.
  5. Gentlemen, this is my first visit to this site and all I see is belly aching. Let me ask you when is the last time you sat down and submitted a tecnical article to the CNB to be published? Most articles in the publication are sent by Packard owners, why not for a change do something constructive instead of being so negative. If you want to challenge Mr. McKeehan's article why don't you PERSONALLY contact him. Why must we all hear your name calling. You contact him, you write a correct article ! Get busy or knock off the complaining! No, I am connected with any of the publications just a viewer of this site.
