1. Has anyone tried installing a new aftermarket radio/cassette/CD in an 88 Reatta? Is it hard? Anything I need to know? I'd like to keep my original cassette, but have already tried 3 refurbished cassette players without success. Each one had something different wrong with it. Signed Frustrated.

 2. Save your money. I have a friend who works at an auto dealership. He told me to come over because they have an acid spray that cleans the wheels up and they look like new. I pulled my car in, waited about 15 minutes, and drove out with new looking wheels.

 3. That's great. I have two questions. Since I've never been in a Reatta with 16 way seats, I'd like to know, are both the driver's and passenger seat 16-way, or is it only the driver's seat. Also, does anyone have 16-way seats in camel at a reasonable price for an 88?

 4. When I had put my driver's seat all the way forward, I noticed a set of wires with a plug at the end of it. My car only has a six-way seat. So I'm wondering, is this plug for connecting a sixteen way seat and can a six-way seat be replaced with a sixteen-way?

 5. An aftermarket cassette for an 88 seems like an impossible task. I was thinking of removing the plugs out of my cassette player and wire an aftermarket unit from there so as to not disturb the cables in the car if I decide to put an OEM back into the car. Has anyone ever tried to install an aftermarket unit in this vehicle?

 6. I purchased a cassette for my 88 that the seller assured was working. When I attach the two plugs and put in a cassette, the unit appears to be functioning properly, but I get no sound. Any suggestions on what the problem might be?
If not, read cassette sacrilege

 7. If we drove our Reattas only a few miles a year, we can purchase antique auto insurance coverage, but what about every day drivers like us? I suspect if my Reatta gets totalled, my insurance will pay me only about $3500, but I already have over $7000 invested. Does anyone know of a company that will insure or supplement our own insurance above the wholesale blue book value of our cars?

 8. My driver's side headlight stopped working. I changed the bulb and it still doesn't work. Any suggestions?
P.S. I just had the service shop convert my airconditioning to R134. Could there be something under the hood that they might have accidently disconneted?

 9. I just converted the air condiniong on my 88 to R134, but I still find it struggling to cool off the car in 95 degree weather. It's almost okay if I drive continuously at 45mph or better, but at stop and go, it's almost to the point where I have to open the windows to keep cool. Does anyone have an idea of what else might need to be done?

 10. I went to Sam's Club and saw they had Goodyear Allegra. I sent an email to goodyear and they told me that it was basically the same tire as their Regatta 2, sold and warranteed by Sam's with a 75,000 mile warranty. I got the exact size tire, 215/65/15, and they only cost me I think, about $68 each. Sam's mounts and ballances them for $9 each. They look great! I think they are a bargain.

 11. I'm still trying to obtain an 88 manual, but in the meantime, I was hoping to have a list of the diagnostic codes for my year. The Reatta diagnostics page only lists the 90/91 years. I've got a B123 code and don't know what it is.

 12. When I had diagnostics on my 88 coupe done at the Buick dealer, there were error codes for 3 of the 4 switches in the transmission. None of them were hard codes. It would cost me about $400, mostly labor to changes the switches in the transmission. I'm holding off doing anything because the transmission drives smooth and no service lights have been triggered. The original owner had the car for 13 years and who knows how long those codes were stored. Unless I see or feel a problem, I think its best not to do anything. Do you agree?

 13. If the armrest is the same as the 88, then I can probably make one since I use a laser engraver/cutter and can bend plastic to fit inside the armrest. I was thinking of doing it for myself. So, if anyone can confirm that the inside of the 90 is the same as the 88, let me know.

 14. The ECM in my 88 coupe needs replacement, but GM parts won't take it for an exchange because the knucklehead who had the car before me used an aftermarket ECM. So I beg you, does anyone have a genuine GM-Delco ECM, part no. 16198264 that's broken? If you do, don't toss it in the garbage, give or sell it to me. It's the difference to me of $150.00

 15. On my new? 88 coupe, something funny seems to be going on with the alarm. From what I gather, the alarm activates only when the door is locked with the power locks which makes sense. What doesn't make sense is when I open the door with the key, the alarm goes off. What I finally figured out is that when the alarm is set, I must unlock the passenger door before opening the driver door to prevent the alarm from sounding. This isn't the way it's supposed to be, is it? Also, the previous owner installed a second theft device which I think disables the engine from starting. Could the wiring on this device be the problem? Is there a solution?

 16. Boy, this is an expensive hobby! I bought my 88 coupe with only 75,000 miles, and the motor runs great. The only problem is that there are so many little things that only Buick can repair that I already have a bill of $2,000, and this doesn't include needing new tires.
I still need to repair the antenna, sunroof, cassette deck, headliner before the car comes as close to perfect as I can afford.
This is what I need:
In one discussion, someone had a link to the Fiero site to purchase belts to fix my cassette, but there's more than one set listed, so which one do I buy or is there another site I can check? Or . . . do I need to get a complete unit since the door won't even shut if I try to put a cassette in it?
Also, not only do I need to replace the headliner, I might need to replace the board between the headliner and the roof? Does anyone out there have one of those, and how much? frown.gif" border="0confused.gif" border="0
