1. If proper storage techniques are not followed when storing a 215 aluminum V8 for a long period of time, seven years,in a cold climate,Minn, what are the chances that the engine will have problems?Could the heads be warped? All the owner did before putting the car in storage was to squirt some WD-40 into each cylinder.
 2. Was the 330 engine avaiable in a 1963 F-85 Cutlass ? I believe it is a 215 engine and want to set the seller straight.
Wasn't the 215 engine made by Buick for Olds, and weren't the aluminum engines discontinued due to problems with the anti-freez reacting with the metal and causingblown head gaskets
Mike
 3. I had a 1953 48 with a 263 straight eight and had the same problem. What I found was the heat riser in the exhaust manifold was rusted shut. After much heating and PB blaster penetrant it came lose but wouldn,t stay open.So I just wired it open. The only problem this causes is a flat spot on acceleration when the car is cold.Once it would warm up the car drove like a champ,I could cruise at 75 miles an hour on the interstate.
 4. I have a 1953 Special 48-D Tourback Sedan Delux. It is the fifty year anniversary edition with the 1903 Buick pictured on the steering wheel hub. This was the last year for the straight eight-263.3c.i. engine, and the last year for 6-volt ignition. The car is two tone with a dark metallic green roof, andcream/yellow body.
I bought this dar three years ago from southern Il.where it sat in a barn for a long time. the original owner was a women from New Jersy who drove it to Il.when she retired from teaching in the late fiftys.

 6. I went to my local Napa auto parts store to get an oil filter for my straight 8, and was told that the mfg. Wix has discontinued the item and they are no longer available.
The next step was my local Buick dealer where the part number I got out of a 1953 Buick service manualcame up as bad number. The numbers I have our as follows-AC-P127 Buick 5572129, Parts plus51126 Napa 1126
Wix 1126.Anyone know where I can get one? The one I bought last March at NApa cost me $6.49 and I want to find one in this price range, not a $15.00 one from a specialty house. Please e-mail me at MCAULEYMMRR54@aol.com THanks Mike :

 8. The car I am trying to sell is a 1953 Special 2 dr sedan delux 48-d. I have had it to car shows and cruise nights with for sale signs in it and have listed it in this web site and Hemmings web site with no responce. I realize the car needs work, but I am only asking $2700. obo for it
It is a low compression engine so it can burn regular gas and gets ok gas milage best as I can figure, but because it is big compared to todays cars I think people are scared off because of gas prices
 9. I recently listed a car I unfortunately have to sell on this site and got only one responce. Is it a bad market to sell a car in or is every body afraid to spend any money with the slight downturn in the economy.I would like to hear from people around the country how things are in their area. I am in the mid-west.
If this is the trend across the country it is another thing we can attribute to the high gas prices.
Thanks
Mike B C A 34794
 10. I have a 1953 263 straight eight and don't have any problems with hot restarts, but the car does smell of gas and oil when put back in the garage after a long drive. I beleive a lot of the smell is due to the crankcase ventilation pipe.Newer cars equipted with P.C.V. valves burn these smells off by reciculating them through the carb and out the exhaust, but in these old cars the raw gases are vented under the car just below the passenger seat.Any fumes left in that tube which is about sixteen inches long and in the engine are vented into your garage.
Mike B.
