Yes you are correct The Driver is Singh, my grandfathers chauffeur, it was a well paid job and he had a high status by local employemnt standards. the location is Puducherry, so its French India until 1954. The residency is now a museum and my son who works in India gave them lots of photos of the era between the wars, The chief curator was gracious and grateful for the material that my son left them for their historical displays.

  5. Thanks very much The troble for me is that because I cant see the front, usually the lights, Rad and filler/mascot are a good clue to the maker
