  1. I have acquired a 1940 Buick Special (McLaughlin) and need help. The gentleman who was restoring this car has passed and was in the midst of retiring the car with a Painless re-wire kit. It looks like the kit is 12v but is setup for 6v. Much of the wiring is already complete except for the instrument panel, horn and the signal lights at the steering column. in particular at this point I’m trying to figure out the steering column wiring and how to hook up the signal wires. All the original wires are still hanging out of the column and all the new wires haven’t been connected. The old wires are all the same colour and can’t seem to get continuity on them in many different configurations. does anyone know how the wiring configuration should be or have a drawing? Or is not having the instrument panel wired yet causing an issue? thank you, Jay Thompson
