  1. Hi, I have a 1955 Oldsmobile super 88 Holiday coupe, I don’t have the original leaf springs some say that the rear is too high some say it’s not, I do think it sits a little high but for the sake of argument how do I know what the “proper rear height should be” besides trusting someone eyeballing? thanks
  2. Since the car was parked outside already they just told me what was wrong and for me to get the parts, all “front end parts, including the steering gear box” the only thing I notice when I drive is that the steering is about 10 degrees to right and drives perfectly straight and no wobbling or constant correction and my right wheel top part of the tire is in a little compared to the left
  3. I was told that the king pins are good, steering and all connecting parts are loose
  4. Hello everyone Merry Christmas to all, my question today it’s about the steering box on my 55 Olds super 88, I toke my car to get a new exhaust and I asked the tech to do a “Safety check” when I went to pickup the car they said my front end is shot and so is the Steering box ( my is a power steering box) I don’t doubt the tie rods or any other joint but I’m a little skeptical about the fact that the steering box is also “shot” so can some shed some light on how can I check for a bad steering box? Thank you
  5. Thank you, I will check it out
  6. Thank you, so what can be done when the accelerator gets stuck going down the road? Besides changing my pants hahaha
  7. Merry Christmas everyone I have a 1955 Oldsmobile Super 88 with a Rochester 4 barrel, and I’m looking for a throttle cable it has an automatic transmission if makes any difference does anyone knows where I can locate one? Thank you
  8. Hello everyone, I’m currently working on my 1955 Olds Super 88 it has a Carter 4 barrel, does anyone knows where I can source a rebuild unit? It’s a few Rochester around but I need a Carter, thank you
  9. Thank you Nat, unfortunately it’s not the original tank (it looks new) the previous owner covered and painted the original gas door if I can locate a good fuel tank that fits or have one made and a door box I think Jolly John said that he has one, then my body shop guy can do that or if it’s supper expensive I will figure out some how to vent outside the car it’s by far original too bring it back to original I just rather buy another already done (it’s much cheaper)
  10. Thank you Nat, the tank it’s not collapsed it’s just a bad sending unit, however the tank has been replaced and modified the filer neck is inside the trunk so when the cap vents….you got it it vents inside the car fuel and vapors absolute genius LOL
  11. Hello, I have a 1939 Buick Special Business Coupe, the transmission input shaft seal is leaking and I have the parts, can someone direct me to or provide me with information on how to remove the transmission? The repair manual that I have it’s no help neither is Google also what transmission oil should I use. Thank you in advance zzotte
  12. Thank you, is the oil seal for the transmission or the crankshaft an easy repair? Meaning a non mechanic can do it? Also where about the fuel tank is the vent located? It’s not a vented gas cap, and assume the tank maybe collapsed or has a very small capacity ( under 10 gallons from empty)
  13. Happy Thanksgiving everyone, I have a question actually two, I have a 39 Buick special that developed a oil leak between the transmission and the engine and the other question is if I fill the tank pass 1/2 full it builds so much pressure that gas spills pass the gas cap. Thank you for any repair suggestions
