  1. Could another car's trim/bezel work, is there something special about the Buick? That seems like a pretty common part Any idea where i could find suitable parts?
  2. Ok, that sounds reasonable, i have fog lights thanks, Timo
  3. i am looking headlight rims for 1948 Buick Roadmaster Conv. thanks, Timo
  4. 60FlatTop: At this point I'm trying to get it done without replacing anything other than the "torque ball seal kit". I will leave all the bigger things until next winter, we have a long winter here in Finland, then there will be time to fix such things in more detail. Especially since “as long as I am there..." /Timo
  5. Thanks John So, if i order from e.g CARS 'Torque Ball Sealing Kit' and '1940-1955 Buick Pinion Seal', I have those three seals?
  6. I'm replacing the wiring harness and took the dashboard apart. This switch was under the dash, but I don't know its meaning? thanks, Timo
  7. Hello, when I fixed the brakes I noticed that the left side of the rear wheel seal was leaking. When I removed the differential cover, more than a gallon of oil came out. From what I have read the reason why there is so much oil is the torque ball? The rear axle seal, maybe also the bearings need to be replaced, but is it enough to buy a 'Torque Ball Sealing Kit' from e.g. CARS (https://oldbuickparts.com/product/torque-ball-kit-6/)? I think someone has tried to fix the problem (see picture)...
  8. Maybe a misunderstanding, my English is not good. I drained the differential and about a gallon of oil came out. I think the oil should only be half that amount, so where that oil came? But now I have also another problem; since the outer seal has leaked, the inner seal must also leak, and I understand that the bearing located between the seals is lubricated with gerase, so it does not need this oil. When/if I also change the inner seal I have to remove the bearing, which means that it has to be replaced as well? The problem is that if you order a bearing and seal from the USA, it will take at least three weeks, while if I had the specs for the bearing and seal, I could certainly buy them in Finland quickly Anyone knows these specs (SKF -numbers)? /Timo
  9. Now that I got the axle out, I saw that the axle tube has two seals and a bearing in between, and since the outer seal has leaked, the inner one must have leaked as well. The bearing is probably lubricated with vaseline separately? So I have to replace the inner seal as well? But it could be hard job, or? I haven't quite figured out how to change it yet... BTW, Does anyone know the number of that inner seal (SKF), because if i order it from the USA it takes three weeks to ship, but I'm sure I'll get the same part here as well? When I removed the axle, oil came out of the rear much more than 4 lbs. (which I think is the correct volume)? So can someone tell me what is wrong and which parts should be ordered from Bob's? I would love to order them all at once due to the long delivery time to Finland thanks Timo
  10. The problem was resolved, the locking washer was found and by removing it I was able to remove the axle. But, still when i am here should i check something else?
  11. Hello I was fixing brakes and noticed left side of rear wheel seal is leaking. I don't know how to remove axle? Do I need some extra tools and do i have to remove some lock washer from rear axle housing? And of course when i am here should i check something else? I have shop manual, but not sure understood right... thanks Timo
  12. The Buick doors are missing some parts that I bought, but I didn't remember to buy the right screws. Since the car is not near me (approx. 155 miles away), I cannot check. I'm asking if someone could tell me what size the screws marked in the picture are? thanks Timo
  13. thanks Ben, I already was writing that there is not, BUT upon closer inspection I noticed that it is there, on the side. see picture 2, the picture is bad, but there really is allen in the area surrounded by blue
  14. I can't figure out how to remove the knobs from the dashboard, I mean the ones on the 'radio plate', like the Blower, Defroster, Lights thanks Timo
  15. What would be a good way to paint these letters black and what paint works? I mean how should they be painted? Paint and somehow wipe off the excess could be an easy way with breakers but how about a bumper? Any ideas? thanks Timo
  16. I haven't seen any '48 models with Dynaflow script online, but several '49 models with Dynaflow script on the rear fender. I also looked in a few of these sales brochures and couldn't find the Dynalof script in any of them
  17. Yeah, I have a Dynaflow on the left front fender and a Roadmaster on the right front fender, maybe that's correct for this model year though?
  18. Thanks Ben, but there are no holes to script, I didn't find any sign that there were either... I've looked at several pictures of the car online, but I haven't found where the Dynaflow -script is, maybe just looked wrong pics? /Timo
  19. Hi, I was measuring the length of the front fender molding and noticed when looking at the Roadmaster script above the molding that it is not a Roadmaster script but a Dynaflow script!? So I think it's in the wrong place... Now I wonder where car has a place for the Dynaflow script?
  20. These extra parts also came with my car I know the picture shows two parts of the Buick bumper and the spark plug cover (which is too short for my car), but what car are the other two parts of the bumper from? Thanks Timo
  21. Thanks Keiser31, now I know where I can ask about the need for this /Timo
  22. The car came with a few parts that definitely do not belong in it, here is the first one. Can someone tell me what car this is from? To me this part is garbage, could it be useful to someone? (one man's trash is another man's treasure?) thanks Timo
  23. Hi Bob and thank you very much for this and my question about the front fender molding, it seems you know these things... And now that I'm here, I'd like to ask what book you recommend for body maintenance on a '48 Buick Convertible? Since I haven't found anything specifically for the '48 model year, would a '47 or '49 be better? I've seen some reprinted manuals that are unusable due to the darkness of the pictures, so I have to find the original? Or is there a difference in manufacturers, could a reprint of a certain manufacturer be OK? \Timo
  24. Robert, thank you so much for your help, so the ferrule is attached to the escutcheon? I read your story about the door lock, now I have one more job, I have to check the locks;) I have shop manual, but not next to me, its on the car. I assume there is something about locks on the page 107?
