  1. This is the acetylene generator on my 1912 Buick model 36. Other generators I have had were just a water tank that dripped water onto the carbide in an airtight container below and presto, acetylene whooshed out to the lights. But this one has at least 4 compartments with interconnecting pipes between the compartments. And the tap on the end would appear to turn off the water and the gas at the same time which could account for excess pressure inside and the severely cracked and plate under the tap. My problem is figuring out exactly how it works and what the setup is supposed to be in the lower compartment where you put the carbide. Any info would be appreciated. Cheers Ted NT Australia
  2. Thanks to everyone who helped me with this problem. I now have it sorted. After pulling bits off and reinstalling them in many different ways with no change in the rattle, I once again slid the cover back from the olden ring and plastered as much molygrease in there as I could get. (it wasnt dry before). Put the cover back on exactly as it was before and no more noise. Everything is working like is ought to. Life will be dull now. I will go and work on the BSA motorbike. Thats a challenge. Cheers Ted
  3. Gday Mark, The gearbox, driveshaft and diff would be helpful.
  4. Thank you Mark. That makes it all easy. I dont suppose you have any more parts lists like that for the other machanical parts of the car? Cheers Ted
  5. I have a rattle coming from the gearbox side of my clutch. Between the gearbox and the clutch there is a mechanism behind the clutch throwout. Can someone tell me what is in there please. And maybe even a drawing. Cheers.
