Hmm. I think a little in my “older car”. He didn’t like foreign cars and I’m a big BMW guy. He always had gm cars which I never owned until I got my 86 Buick so I would say he did in the sense I wanted to own a gm model at least once simce that’s what I grew up with.

Junkyards in my area are few. There is a U-pull-it about an hour away. I liked it when junkyards were more prevalent and the “adventure” of hunting for parts was part of car ownership. My dad’s cars always required frequent junk yard searches back in the 1950s and 60s.
I do a national search. I got an interior trim piece from a junkyard in Kansas City. I’m in Palm Springs. So you can search far and wide if you need too

How easy (or not) is it to find parts for these cars? I would guess engine and suspension are an available but I’m thinking of things like trim, interior and exterior things like lenses and emblems. Do salvage yards keep cars of this era?
I Have an 86 LeSabre. Junk yards are my go to for interior bits

I have an 86 Buick LeSabre. There is a minor oil leak that probably should get some attention. The curcuit board that controls the intermittent wipers and washer is broken and needs to be replaced. The power mirror on the driver side sometimes sticks.
that’s about it. It’s pretty minor as things go

The OP is trying to do a quick flip on this car for a profit and is coming here for a free appraisal rather than paying an appraiser. The information was provided - these cars are not particularly desirable for anything other than basic transportation and don't bring much money.
I believe that’s what i had said in previous posts.

And who are unlikely to pay collector car prices for one...
No. They generally aren’t rich geriatrics. They just want something to go from point a to b and not go broke doing it

But most of them are too old to drive
Nah. You would be suprised. Go
to the Facebook gm fwd page and there are tons of people. Mostly younger who want reliable transportation that they can work in. I myself have an 86 Lesabre

Low mileage. In good condition you might around $2,500 American. The 4 banger does hold it back a bit. There is a community to likes those cars.

I have always admired the 1981-1983 Imperials,
but I have stayed away from them, thinking that
they had more than the average number of problems.
Are they reliable cars? What problems do they typically have?
I'm glad to see, Wes, that you're enjoying the experience,
and bringing them back to a state of excellence.
I want to say The big problem was the fuel injection. I think most other then this one have carbs.
