  1. The question was which hole in the clutch arm should be used. There are three in the arm. It seems that the outer one would not move the clutch fork as far as the inner one would.
  2. I hadn't thought about the clutch being stuck. The clutch pedal doesn't feel right. It goes down about half way without any resistance. There is no removable pan over the clutch to see what's going on. The car rolls when in neutral and shifts when not running. Any more ideas? Thanks
  3. Working on a friend's Lincoln and the clutch linkage doesn't travel far enough to allow the car to shift into gear. There are three holes in the arm on the throw out fork. The linkage in is pinned on the last hole now. Which hole is correct. I have adjusted the turn buckle in the link arm to minimize the free travel already but I am not getting enough travel to disengage. Need some advise. Thanks
  4. Thanks, I'm getting the front clip ready to go back on. I don't remember removing any screws when I took it apart but that was 4 years ago. Thanks for the knowledge.
  5. Yes, it goes against frame. I'm thinking rubber bumpers. Just not sure. I don't want to put the front clip on and then find out I screwed up.
  6. These are the holes I mentioned. I think a rubber button goes in them but not sure.
  7. I have the shields on the inside of the fenders. What I am asking about is along the inner fender just above the frame and along side of the motor in the engine compartment. Sorry I didn't myself clear. Thanks
  8. There are a series of holes along the bottom of the inner fenders on my 40 Buick. Is there supposed to be a splash apron. Mounted inside or out and with what. Any photos? Thanks
  9. There are a series of holes along the lower edge of the inner fenders of my front fenders but no sign of any rubber or fasteners. Is there supposed to be a splash apron? What does is look like and how is it attached. Which side, engine or wheel side. Thanks
  10. After checking my steering box on my 40 Special Buick I refilled it with 90wt. Oil. The next day there was a puddle on the floor. I dropped the Pittman arm and removed the seal. It was a felt seal and worn out. I was able to find only one lip seal listed that would fit. It was a #2503. In looking for a seal I found that a lot of the suppliers who were offering seals listed seals with a slightly larger od and id than I required and no one was offering the 2503. After I installed the new seal I refilled the box with the 90 wt. oil. No leaks. I just thought others might need to know this instead of using grease to keep their box from leaking
  11. I want to stay original. I have some BOP 40 tower but they are shorter and don't fill the hole. I am hoping someone can find a pair I can use. Thanks to all.
  12. Looking for a pair of wiper towers for my 40 Buick special. Numbers on the back are BOP 39 RH & LH. Just bodies or assemblies. NOS or good enough for plating. Thanks,
  13. Thanks EmTree for your reply. My outside handles had a red stripe to match the side trim. I'll trim the inside with black.
  14. The door handles have some grooves. Do these get painted black? The garnish trim with the ivory's also have grooves. Are the grooves in the chrome painted black or red? Thanks
