  1. Once again I would like to thank all of you that took the time to answer this post. I have learned a lot. I never found a company that sold the wire-on core, but through info that pointed me to Cory Cook I found someone that was very helpful. I found out that he also has the ability to make the core material and was willing to sell me what I needed for this project. I hope to plan a camping trip this summer to go see the shop where works L'Cars should be fun. Thanks again and I will post some pics of the project John
  2. Thanks I just sent them an email
  3. Thanks But I would really like to find some raw wireon core so I can make it to match but all I come up with is finished product. I will keep looking but isn't looking too good now. I don't think the core stuff is in very high demand.
  4. Thanks, Dave, for the info. I checked out the 2 sources listed but didn't find a core product listed. I will check into that a little more. And I would also need to find that half round paper they added to give it some shape. Like I stated this isn't a restoration, so I do have some leeway. Also, it is quite expensive for the little I need, and I have so much of things like that around my shop that only used a little and the rest sits. It would have to be recovered to match anyway so I am thinking I will just end up with making some hide-em. JohnB
  5. Hello All I have been working on a 1940 Buick Century for a friend doing the interior. It is being done in the stock style but not original/restored .I have run into an issue with the front seat, more so how the back and front coverings are stapled on then covered. I have been doing upholstery since 1981 and have never run across this style of a finish. I don't even know what to call it for sure. It looks to be a half round paper which gets covered with material (glued I think) and a thin wavey wire that is covered with the other side of the material then stapled over the 2 seams then folded over to hide the staples. I have attached some pics. Anyone know what this is called? Where you get it? My idea is to use double welt cord. Not correct but that is all I can come up with. Thanks in advance for any/all suggestions.
