  1. Transmission is out and looks like it's way past time for a U joint and to replace a nonexistent front seal!  Looks like Buick had not gotten around to using them yet. I will have to do some machine work and install one as the clutch brake keeps getting oil soaked.

How impossible is it to get a u joint with end bushings I wonder.  Thanks for all of the great suggestions!

  2. Found a picture of a rebuilt clutch and can see that the throw out bearing is attached leading me to believe that all of the bearing linkage must be removed. Any of you Buick guys remember this?  Dandy Dave's 15 was like this, how about a 16 & 17 ?? Seems that I may be taking more apart than is needed.  HELP...

  3. Kind of stuck in the removal of the transmission in my 1917 D45 Buick with a cone clutch.

Rear u joint disconnected, bolts out of the trans to bell housing and 6 bolts out of a flanged plate that bolts to the clutch that is in front of the throw out bearing. The bell housing just wants to spring back in place when pried on. this spring action is from the clutch compressing. Should the throw out bearing assy be removed, shaft and all or am I just missing something? Car is not rusted, and all components should be free..  Help!!  Thanks!
