  1. You may be right. Maybe they considered it too small a job? They didn't provide a time estimate but acted as though it would be, at least, a few hours labor plus the cost of the glass. We all know quotes tend to end up on the high side of the quote, or higher, so I'm not going to deal with those guys. $800 is ridiculous as two of the windows are very small Opera windows and it's all flat glass. I'll update my progress as I move forward and figure this out. This is all new ground for me. Thanks to everyone that has been trying to help! John
  2. Well, my local glass company, Xtremeautoglass, in Dallas, Texas was very disappointing and not helpful at all. First they told me it cost $200 for the first hour of labor and $150 per hour after that plus the cost of the glass. I then asked for an estimate and they said between $400 and $800 for two door windows and two little opera windows if I sent them the templates. Ridiculous wide ranged estimate and way more than online vendors. I'm trying online now. I know I can beat $400 and I can darn sure beat $800. Wow!
  3. Hi. Yes, my car is a retromod in progress. I'm in the process of creating custom interior panels but that will take some time. I'm very mechanical but this car needs more cosmetic work than anything which is outside my realm of talents. I guess I'm not too old, yet, to learn. LOL. Thanks for the parts source my friend.
  4. Thank you. I actually did find a glass shop in Dallas, Texas after your post reminded me to look. I will have to call them for some direction regarding a template. Thanks so much. John
  5. I did try both places. Neither has the one piece glass, or the template. French Lake Auto Parts said they have a vendor that can create the windows if I send a template. Looks like I'll have to do that. Thank you kaiser31 for being so helpful. I'll update this post as I progress. God bless!
  6. Hi everyone. I'm brand new to this forum. I just purchased a 1938 Chevrolet Business Coupe and I'm trying to get some education regarding the door glass. Mine does not have the window vent/wings. Did this car originally have window vents? Are there places I can buy single piece door glass since I don't have the window vents? Thanks so much for your help! John
