I am overhauling the clutch on my 1915 DB Roadster at the moment. That is, cleaning up the plates and fitting new linings. What total clearance should I have between plates?

The chassis number is on the chassis cross member RHS just in front of the seat. You may have to carefully scrape away some paint.
If that is an aluminium gearbox in your pic, I would say you have the wrong box. Sorry, but as far as I know the aluminium box was only on the '15 and '16 vehicles.
The engine number will be on the left-hand side of the block.

I think you will also find that the 25" front wheel has 6 bolts in the hub, not 8.

I know I am late in making this comment. How to remove the head. The engine was out of the car and I was dismanteling for o'haul.
I finally removed the bearing shells, then took the piston out through the bottom and bumped the head up from underneath with a lump of 3 x 2.
this moved the hear about a 1/16 of an inch. I then spent an hour with wedges to carefully move the head.
Hope this may help someone in the future.

Can someone please tell me if the multi disc clutch pins are welded in the flywheel or just pressed in.

Ok, who out there has the answer to getting the cylinder head to move after almost 50 years in service

At the moment the car has an electric fuel pump fitted so there is no problem with fuel supply. I will study the diagram and notes and see what I can achieve. Thanks everyone s for your comments so far.

I tried my best to follow the instructions given by "MINIBAGO". Quite tricky. could still not get it to fire up unless I put fuel in the pet cocks. I have now fitted another carb and got it to fire up but not run. What fun, what fun.

I have, probably very foolishly, dismantled my carburettor to clean it. Now I find I have no idea how to set the metering pin and rack. Can someone explain how to do the initial metering pin set up on the Stewart Carburettor?

I have the book and read it very carefully - he was a remarkable man with great ethics. I would say he was to the Australian motoring industry what Henry Ford was to the American industry; except SA had a feeling for his fellow man.
