Hello all, just  checked out the horns, and yes  are the same,

A is the same as  H---and  F is the same as  L,   but for some reason,

the high and low horns from 1964  are not as loud as the later  ACDF  from eighties.

    Wayne,

Thank you very much for taking the time to discover this information and sharing it with the community!

For me, this is incredibly useful.

re: horns not as loud… I read through my service manual for the 68’.  In it, it describes making an adjustment to the horn, based on voltage readings across the horn, to make it louder or softer. Take a look at your service manual to see if it says something similar.

For anyone interested in the sounds of four note horns, but are not concerned with authenticity here’s a picture of one of the sets I got from a 90s era Cadillac.  I tried using a chrome pen to highlight the notes for each horn but the pen was a little too fluid.  Top row left to right are a D and a C; bottom row left to right are an A and an F. These are plastic so they need a 12V power as well as a ground wire.

Do you know if the high and low horns that come with the Riv the same as the A note and F note?

I do not have a photo of the 67-68 trumpet horns. Out of my compulsive curiosity could you tell me how you know the horns are keyed at “C” and “D”? Is it the part name or you have identified the note by ear for each horn or other tuning device?

    thank you.

Yes, these are the notes each horn emits energy.

The pic Jason posted is correct.

The parts books are not generally accurate as to the actual numbers of the original horns, especially from '66 and later....that is because the part numbers in the parts books are for SERVICE REPLACEMENT horns.

The parts listing you posted only shows one trumpet horn for the '67-'68 Riviera (9000). The trumpet horn number is the horn whose part number begins with "1999".

The other horn whose number begins with 9000 is a large sea shell type horn, as I posted above,  which is the "D" note.

Again, if you found NOS horns with the part numbers listed in the parts book, when you opened the box you would find a horn of the correct note but with a choice of 3 universal mounting brackets. There are very rare exceptions to this but in general and almost always that is what you will find in service replacement horn part numbers.

Do a search on this forum for "'68 4 note horns"...pretty sure I have posted quite a few pics and text.

I would certainly like to get the two horns I’m missing to complete the four note horn. Are you able to help me with that?
