  1. Thank you! I did change out the pilot bearing ... I also have 80/90 GL4 Gear Lube. I dont actually have any gear clash just feels like the gears are sticking I guess you might say.
  2. Thanks to all ... new issue here - Transmission all re-installed into car with new clutch (aftermarket) from Bob's. I replaced the cluster gear and also the first/reverse large gear that slides and also new bearings. When I drive the car - starting out in first gear I hear the transmission wind-up as should be ... I press in the clutch but, dont feel I have 'enough' clutch to shift smoothly from first to second. I have adjusted the clutch free-play as stated in the manual and even went a bit more than the 3/4 -1" as noted. Still not shifting smoothly. I feel like Im taking the car out of gear (1st to 2nd) without a clutch ... if that makes sense. I believe the clutch is working properly as I can get under the car and see the action of the pressure plate releasing the disc. Cant understand why it wont shift out of first smoothly though.... any help would be greatly appreciated!
  3. Hello All, I have a '41 Buick 56C ... I just rebuilt transmission and re-installed last week. Transmission is shifting very nice now as I have all new bearings and gears. The problem Im having is clutch adjustment.... I know it should be simple! I purchased an aftermarket pressure plate and disc from Bob's along with having my flywheel resurfaced, I have new throw out bearing too. I have followed the manual to adjust clutch to 3/4" - 1" freeplay. When I start the car (clutch in-trans. in neutral) everything is fine... I have a bit of noise when I release the clutch - still in neutral ... Im thinking the throwout bearing is riding on pressure plate fingers and making noise. That isnt the main problem though ... when I drive the car I dont feel like I have 'enough' clutch to smoothly shift through the gears ... taking the car from 1st into 2nd is when I feel this the most. I have adjusted the clutch with less 'freeplay' but, still have the issue. Could I have a disc that isnt thick enough?? Or could it be installed backwards? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks Again!
  4. Don, Thank you! I just went out to the garage and everything fits like a glove... just as you said ... sleeve goes in the 'bellhousing' and snap ring follows!
  5. Hello, I am installing my 1941 Buick 56C rebuilt transmission and can not find any information on how the "Clutch Release Sleeve" and snap ring are installed with the throw-out bearing. Can someone please help? Here is a photo of the part from Bob's ... Any help would be greatly appreciated ... Thank you!
