Seller's Description:1958 Packard 58L 2 door hardtop
This is a 3 or 4 owner car depending on how one looks at ownership.
It is a California car for most of it's life and and one of only 670+/- produced.
The first owner bought new in CA and owned it for many years. He sold/donated the car to a museum out there where it sat in their storage area for many years. It's believed to have been repainted in the first owner's possession and the interior was probably done at the same time. After holding it for many years the museum sold off several of the cars in it's storage and the 2nd/3rd owner purchased the car just 5 years ago. He registered the car and drove it quite a bit but then needed to sell, so it was purchased by the current owner. His plan was to have a trifecta of rare 58 Packards and as such he had a wagon (recently sold) a 4 door sedan and this 2 door. They were project cars and he now feels that it will be too much to bring them all back, so the wagon was sold and this 2 door is now being sold.
In 58, Packard and Studebaker were merging and in an effort to save money, many Packards were simply Studebakers with some odd bits tagged on. This car would have been a Studebaker President Starlight, however, to make it a Packard, they added on extra fiberglass wings, metal dual headlight pods, a fiberglass, wider facia, hood and a matching valance. The 4 door sedans and wagons end up looking a bit odd, but the 2 door models pull it off rather well.
The car for sale was repainted from what is belived to be a cream/white color to the two tone burgundy and white and the interior was reupholstered in Infant BM Brown.
The Studebaker 289 V8 puts out 210 HP however, due to the lighter weight of the Packard, it's performance was better than the same Studebaker. The car has 91K miles on her.
She starts right up and runs and drives great. This one has a two speed automatic transmission and power steering. Everything else is manual.
The interior is in very good shape, albeit a little funky on the color choice. The burgundy paint hasn't held up too well and has several areas of flaking paint. Despite the peeling paint the body and frame are very solid with no rot through on any panels.
Even looking like she does, if you roll up to any cruise night or car show, you may not win any awards but you'll have one of the biggest crowds around you.
Awesome entrance into the collector car world with a very rare but not very expensive automobile. The new Hankook tires look pretty good on her with the white walls showing and the radial provides better handling and road feel, grip.
Asking price is only $10,500
Any questions, for many more photos and video, to schedule a test drive or to make an offer, please don't hesitate to contact me. -
This Buick is also on Ebay with a "Buy It Now Price of $15k plus Auction" and many more pictures (total 16 pictures on Ebay vs 9 on Craigslist)

Seller's Description:
I've owned this Beauty for 3 1/2 years. It's a real..I mean Real looker/show stopper...can't go anywhere without drawing a crowd....don't know whether it's the color, chrome, shape, whatever but it's unbelievably attractive, and draws crowds wherever i go. I'll admit I'm a showoff and that's one of the reasons I bought it. It's a V8, not strait 8 and runs excellent....probably could use tires, I've never changed them, heater defroster,. etc all work...including the original radio..and it has power steering...has a few imperfections as shown in photo one small chrome piece are on bumper slight pitting, and a few small imperfection small nicks...but overall an exceptional attention gathering driver...any questions please don't hesitate to ask..i have a 100% record and wish to keep it that way......can call me at 914-282-1092...Mike...car located in Ossining, NY

The Craigslist ad says that the car's color is yellow, but the pictures look more like a tan or butterscotch. I thought perhaps that had something to do with the lack of a sale. I always liked the circular base that anchors the window cranks, very unusual.

A very cool car. I hope it can attract some buyers, given that it's in that part of NY. Best wishes to the seller.
James, I share your good wishes for the seller, but I have to say, this car has been posted for sale on and off over the last 6 months at the same price. Always the same -- same car, same location, same pictures, same price. Maybe this time...

Fin-seeker, you were 'way ahead of me!
I always look for contact information, so that
once the original ad expires--and the car is
likely still for sale--people can still call.
Thanks for posting the excellent cars you find.
John, When I first joined AACA, I learned to do that from the comments you made about postings that didn't have the contact information and I thought to myself "He's right, good point!" And that's how I was "trained." BTW, most of the cars I post are cars I wouldn't mind to own ☺️

And, for reference for any interested party
in the coming weeks, the all-important phone
number in the ad is (917) 225-5836.
The phone # is the last thing on the first line of my post. "contact: Perry call or text: 917 - 225-5836"
It's ok, I know we're all tired and stressed. 👍

Matt, your buyer is not so well informed. He forgot to ask if it was a non-smoking car. 😷 That Mustang will probably sell itself.

Is this car in NJ?
The 1950 Plymouth is in Pueblo, Colorado; the 1956 Chrysler was transported to its new home in Ohio.

Nice car. I came very close to buying this car when prior seller had it on the west coast but we were just a little bit apart on price. Now its only 2 hours away, but timing not good!
I feel your pain. But, the Ebay listing says "Make Offer." This seller has 10 other cars listed on Ebay plus this Buick to sell. He might be flexible on the price in order to move some inventory. Selling one might be better than holding 11. Just a thought...

Yes most of them headed to the crusher by the mid 60's due to rust, way out of date fins, and poor build quality. The floors and trunk were always rotted from poor protective paint, lots of gaps in the window and trunk seals.
So for me it's nice to see this Plain Jane survivor.
That's what attracted me to this Plymouth also -- not fully loaded with options, just a basic car, like so many of the cars that I saw growing up, basic transportation for middle class families with kids. It's nice to see that the various owners of this car, over time, saw the value and preserved her. Plus, she's got fins! 🙂

Tom McCahill loved 62 Imperials, and for good reason. This is pg.1 of his review
Ed, Thank you so much for posting Tom McCahill's review of the 62 Imperial -- thoroughly enjoyed the read! Wish I had room in the garage but this beauty is just a little too big! 🙂
The pop song "Love Shack" by the B-52's aptly describes this car:
"I got me a car, it's as big as a whale
And we're headin' on down to the love shack
I got me a chrysler, it seats about twenty
So hurry up and bring your jukebox money...""Hop in my chrysler, it's as big as a whale
And it's about to set sail
I got me a car, it seats about twenty, so come on
And bring your jukebox money"Those were much better days.

This car is in Colorado (I forgot to state this on the original post... but it is stated in the Seller's Description from Ebay)
Seller's Description:
True time capsule 1950 Plymouth Special Deluxe. Purchased by the current owner in 1987 from the estate of the deceased widow of the original owner. Sold brand new here in Pueblo, Colorado and has remained here ever since. Absolutely stunning jet black over an original unmolested and super straight virgin body. The body is as solid and tight as a brand new Camry, doors, hood, windows, trunk all operate and fit like a brand new car, which it basically is with ONLY 51,745 actual miles. Car has been loved and pampered and stored in climate controlled storage since 1987 and has always been garaged since new and it shows. One professional repaint about 10 years ago and a full mechanical rebuild in July 2018, I have documentation of what was done that I can email to interested parties. Incredibly quiet and smooth running 217.8 cubic inch Inline Flathead 6 Cylinder engine and smooth shifting 3-speed manual transmission, it runs and drives like a dream, no disappointments. The brown upholstery you see is actually high quality super snug fitting seat covers from the 50s and the original gray cloth upholstery is underneath and is like new. Beautiful glass, trim, dash, steering wheel, etc. all original to the car. Zero rust ever. A car like this does not come along very often, and are only original once. Original spare tire, jack and a box of vintage 50s tire chains in the trunk! Equipped with aftermarket seatbelts for safety. I am selling this gorgeous Plymouth for the second owner in his mid 80s and is the last car in his distinguished collection to be sold. Clear Colorado Title in his name from 1987. Someone might say I have no life, LOL, but I enjoy the hunt. When I was growing up, about age 5 or 6, I wanted to be a used car salesman...
