Big Dawg, what a shame especially with your recently purchased car.   Looks like the fender has had some bondo before now.  If there is steel under that, a good metal guy can reshape it again with steel and bondo.  Good Luck.  Finding another fender may prove impossible, but I hope not.

I know a couple good body men but I'm worried about the twist in the fender

I have not seen any interchange information for body panels. The CF is most like the Dodge Brothers DC and DD - same body and much of the running gear. But the fenders will be different. You might also look at De Soto SK (?) of the same year to see how similar they are.

Given enough money, determination and patience, I am sure yours can be straightened.

    Ok I will tks

Glad you're ok! I second the calls here to talk to your insurance company, let them deal with the hassle

I'm actually impressed with how little damage there is as well

Yea me to.i just came in from looking at it again and I jacked it up and was going to pull the wheel off to pound out the fender to get it off the tire but I prayed it out enough to work and I know I'll have bit of body work on the back of the body.but that I can do..and the fenders look plenty easy enough to r&r them.then repaint the car..its just finding fenders now

Report the accident IMMEDIATELY to local law enforcement and your insurance company.  Pretty sure an antique policy insurance company will do the legwork to find you a fender so long as it's not close to totalling out the car.  Nevertheless, it's good to help the process along to find a fender.  On the forums, look for "1939BuickEight" (or something close) who's a retired insurance adjuster for the best advice.

I dud that but I had just put my card on liability for the winter last week..trust me I'm switching them back on Monday.

According to my 1947 Hollander Interchange book the T2, T2C and T79 transmissions share a lot of interchangeable parts. The bearing retainer is not called out.

The T2C transmissions that share the T2C-16 main drive gear (M.D.G.) are as follow:

    1930-31 Chrysler CJ six

    1928-30 Desoto K6

    1929-30 Dodge Merchant Express ½ T

    Dodge 1930-31 F10, UF10, ½ T

    Fargo 1928-32 Packet, 1/2T

    Plymouth 1928-31 to car #15611283

Other M.D.G. variations/numbers and general applications are:

T2C-16A 1930-31 Graham six and 1929-30 Graham Paige

    T2C-16B 1929-30 Auburn late 6-80 and 6-85

  10. hi all. well it was to good to last. with all the old cars we have it was bound to happen and it did today. I got involved in a car accident in the 1930 Desoto cf sedan. was a hit and run of course. I stepped out of car to get the mail and i

as I stepped behind the car some idiot wasn't paying attention I guess and just ran into the back corner of the car and then whipped my door as he went by and damaged that to. then the coward took off and left. we think we have seen the truck in the neighbor hood and have been looking but cant find it. now to the issue at hand.

I,m needing at least the drivers side rear fender and the passenger side is repairable but if I can find both rear fenders ill do that. I can fix the rest but I need the fenders.

does anyone know what years or models will interchange on it.mine is a 1930 cf 4dr sedan. if you have fenders or know of some call me please jim 913 226 0635

  11. Took the car to a parade today and it did great.parade was 2 hrs long.got lots of I love your car and thumbs up. Got people's choice award with it and tomorrow it goes to the car show that's put on by local school dist.spent the late afternoon today detailing the car.

Have a few trade offers already from local adds but nothing that I.like.

  12. We have desided to either sell or trade off the 1930 Desoto we have.we already have a Desoto coupe so no need for the sedan.

It has the straight 207ci. 8 cyl. L engine with the 3 speed trans.

It runs great and shifts very nice.

    Almost new tires all around.

The wheels are in great shape.

    All brakes are good.

    Updated to 12 volt .

All lights and added signals work as they should

    Original horn works good.

The motor starts so quick and is so smooth running.

It's a joy to drive. Just had it in a parade this morning and it performed wonderful.lots of smiles and thumbs up.

Has had 1 repaint in its 90 yrs.painted approx.20 yrs ago.

It has a recover job done on the original upholstery but is still worn the upholstery was recovered in the late 60s so it's due for some more interior.. it's worn but still very usable it's not all tore up or anything just faded and worn still has original headliner.

Its a Desoto.you always see the Ford's and chevy but rarely see a DeSoto especially in this nice of condition no rust anywhere ...its $15,000 or best offer or trade.

There was a handle above the driver in the panel across the top. The windscreen could be wound up an inch or two, exposing the scoop at the top of the dash to the incoming air and directing that air to the front seat floor. This is the Dodge 8 DC top panel, RH drive of course. The scoop is the curved panel above the woodgrain finish.IMG_1064.thumb.JPG.c397dd8d91bf55052f727608ffea8024.JPG

If you look below in the De Soto forum, you will see a few topics by @Mars, who has a CF.

I don't have that .darn it. wish I did.

  14. the desoto in red and the Packard I traded to get the desoto. the Packard has a 350 sbc with a automatic and 10 bolt rear. no interior at all other than 2 bucket seats. broken glass and no ac. it ran good but was sketchy on the brakes.
