  1. While driving the car home tonight in some reason I noticed both doors have a minor leak. Both doors show a leak at the top the window. Any tips on how to remedy this?
  2. It seems to have disappeared and I'm not sure what stopped the stalling. I ended up cleaning the MAF, new spark plugs and wires , as well as swapped in a different coil pack and ICM.
  3. I've checked all battery connections as well as the grounding block adjacent to the battery. I did not unplug the battery. The ED98 was displaying 51 before I unplugged the MAF after the maf it reported I hooked up a fuel pressure gauge and fuel pressure is sitting on the low side and 38. I will get the fuel filter changed because I know it is old and need changed. I started thinking and last night maybe it is a coil pack and? I'm running the factory pack not the Delco. My thought is that when the vehicle gets warmed up the coil isn't providing a strong enough spark and that could be causing some of The problem but just cuz it makes sense in my head doesn't mean it actually makes sense 🙂
  4. I think i figured out the buzzing noise, I think it was the engine fan running at full speed. In regards to the fuel pump I just installed it when I first got the car as the old one had failed. The only thing I have not replaced is the fuel filter, which i have but i wanted to run a tank or two through the car before changing the fuel filter. After posting this last night I thought a little more about the car and how it behaves when cold starting etcetera. The car starts great 98% of the time, sometimes on hotter days, it does seem to crank just a little longer before starting. but Idle has always been good. If you listen closely to the audio in the video you can hear how the car is sounding after I plugged the MAF back in and it was making its adjustments. Once the car hit operating temperature it really started to bog down. Prior to unplugging the MAF it sounded very close to the same but not quite, I wonder if the car was trying to correct a lean situation from having the MAF unplugged is why you see the slow increase.

  6. Hey everyone I am curious I have been driving my reatta for a while and have nearly 200 miles on it since purchase and today it decided to stall out on my wife in the drive thru. She says the car was acting alittle strange with a rough idle and a load buzzing noise. She was able to start it again and take the car into a parking lot adjacent to the drive thru and called me to the rescue. First I thought was to check all fluids and found the coolant alittle low so topped it off and watched the gauges section to see the temp drop increase repeat. Everything seemed fine so I started to drive it back to my work and made it a hundred feet and it stalled again. After I called my tow truck buddy we took it to a shop and decided to get at it after dinner , which we did. Seeing it wasn't a heat problem I figured the fuel system was a good place to start. I took the IAC out and cleaned it, as well as he took the mat out and hit it with some cleaner. On first start the car stumbled Abit but quickly gained a solid idle. I decided to let it heat up to operating temp and upon doing that the car began to stumble and idle rough. I shut it off and decided to try unplugging the maf and see how it ran, needless to say it didn't like it or disagree with it but I did not see any improvement to the idle. I plugged the maf back in and decided to enter the diagnostic screen and see what I could find in there. Here's a video of each portion of the ecm and it's results. I'm starting to thinking the oxygen sensor is the problem based on the fact it only happens when warm and the ed17 is fluctuating a bit. What is everyone's thought? https://photos.app.goo.gl/HatCzuxC2wrqa5fH9
  7. Well now have my first problem with the car both the drivers side and passenger side seat adjusters apparently decided they want to fall down into the door. Not sure why yet but when i popped the panel on the passenger side a piece of plastic fell out , it also had a screw in said plastic so i'm assuming something broke
  8. Barney curious if you could provide me some details on the 91 convertible similar to what you had stated about the 88 coupe 🙂
  9. I chose to add some premium to hopefully dilute and remove the ethanol that had been in the system since I had just replaced the fuel pump and wasn't sure how the rest of the system looked so i put non ethanol premium in. I know it was required but did make me fill a little better.
  10. as i took some photos of the interior this morning I realized the interior actually looks more gray than blue. maybe I was wrong on the blue (the original owner did tint the rear window with some purplish tint so maybe the lighting was bad) tell me your thoughts. Barney thanks for all the information. The service parts label does show the 13u code on the trunk lid. The last six of the vin shows 900672 B Jake - The car is located in Idaho and has been for as long as I know
  11. Hello everyone, I have been reading this forum over the last few weeks and the information contained has been informative and helpful. I decided it was time to introduce my Buick Reatta to the group. It is a 1988 Buick Reatta Silver with Blue interior (edge of seats are suede). The car has just shy of 103,000 miles and appears to be going strong. Now i have been fortunate enough to work for the previous owner for the last 8 years and have been asking in to sale it to me for the last 5. The advantage is I have quite the history of the car. In 1988 the vehicle was sold to a local doctor who drove it for 10 years before trading in the vehicle. In 1998 the doctor traded the Reatta, with 98,000, in for his first Cadillac and my employer and owner of the car lot decided he wanted to add it to his Reatta collection ( he currently has a 89 Red with brown interior, 91 convertible White with red, 90 convertible Silver with a tri tone interior?, and at least one more that is running but i've never seen only talked about) After driving the car for 10 years the owner parked it due to mileage and figured he would keep it as a parts rig just incase. So that takes us all the way to 2008 where the car was serviced and parked with 102,700 miles give or take a couple. Now I have always liked the looks of the Reatta and as mentioned been asking him to sale it for years and finally got him to agree. He had one condition that before he gave me a price I had to get it running and show it as a driveable car. So now we go to the list of things done to the vehicle in the last 3 weeks New battery Diagnosis a bad Fuel Pump and strainer , Replace parts CAR STARTS Get car detailed and suddenly wont start Get car back on lift, diagnosis crank sensor, replace Car starts Finish having car detailed and layers of dirt finally disappear New tires Drivers side window doesn't work, buy new motor, unplug old and replug it in, suddenly begins to work Passenger side window stops half walf and starts grinding, replace motor with part bought for drivers side Fill the Gas tank full of premium fuel Oil, Oil filter, and air filter change Air freshener to spice up the interior (its amazing how stale a car gets after sitting for 10 years) Hottest day of the year so far arrives and guess what? AC reports as low and disables the system Recharge the system and get the cabin to a chilly comfortable temperature First night out find out Passenger headlight is blown, by a new headlight and discover retainer was broken in two spots, quick weld job and the headlight is now secured Now with almost two hundred miles the car seems to be running just fine! I'll try to grab a couple of photos of the interior and get them posted as well
