  1. Last week I purchased a 1990 TC from the original owner. He had put it in storage in his brother's barn years ago and now brought the car out and decided to sell it. When it was put in the barn the passenger door worked fine. Now the door will not open. Does anyone have a suggestion on how to get a stuck door open. It has been sitting for enough years in the Texas heat that all the seals act like they are glued. I've freed up the weather seals. Not sure why the door will not open.
  2. I have a 1990 Reatta. Starts up easy if I squirt quick start into the intake. Not getting fuel so it quits after quickstart burns off. I thought maybe fuel filter was clogged. However, I have never seen this kind of attachment on a fuel filter. How do you get that thing off? Next question, are you supposed to be able to hear the electric fuel pump in the tank when you turn the key? I hear the electric brake booster but I near absolutely nothing coming from the fuel tank. So, I'm thinking the fuel pump may be bad which means I need to drop the tank. But I also need to put a new fuel filter on if someone can explain how to easily (if there is such a thing) get the old one off. Also, if there are any tricks or tips I should know before attempting to drop the fuel tank, let me know. I'm going on 72 and it's not real easy for me to be crawling around under this car. Thanks in advance.
  3. My turn lights on my 70 Riviera used to work fine. Now they don't work at all and they blow the turn light fuse immediately if I try to use them. I'm not sure if this is related or not but I had a mechanic tighten the bolts at the base of the tilt steering wheel because it had caused an issue with the car and it wasn't long after that job was done that the turn light problem started. Could there be a pinched wire going from the turn light switch causing this problem or should I be looking for something else?
  4. Where is the fuel filter located on a 90 Reatta and is there only one filter in the fuel line? Thank you.
  5. Where is the fuel filter located on a 1990 Buick Reatta and is there just one?
  6. I have a 1990 Reatta parts car and I am planning on pulling the transmission, which is good, to put it in my good 1990 that needs a transmission. This will be a "in-my-driveway" project. Has anyone on this forum pulled a transmission from a Reatta? Any tips you can share with me before I jump into this project. I have never done this before...but there is always a first time. The picture I am including is the car I am going to have the transmission put into.
  7. thank you for your input gentlemen. I purchased both of the Reatta's I described in my initial post for $650. Guess this is my new Spring/summer project.
  8. I would like opinions: I have an opportunity to purchase a 1990 Buick Reatta for a very low price. The car starts and sounds good. Digital display is good. Body is in very good condition. Interior leather has a few rips but not horrible. The automatic trans will not go into 3rd gear. The seller also has a wrecked 90 Reatta with a good motor and good trans. The one I like is an attractive little car if it is cleaned up. How much of a nightmare is it to swap out the bad transmission for a good one? Is there any value to these cars if I spend the time and money getting the trans swap done? I heard the motor run today. The fuel pump was messing up and it may also have to be replaced or removed and cleaned. The car has been sitting for a couple years. The one I like has 190k miles on it. The original owner was an oil company that let field reps drive these cars. The field rep who had this car really liked it and put a lot of miles on it (all of them). When the trans started acting up he sold the car. The second owner planned on swapping out the trans but never did and sold the car to the current owner who also planned on swapping out the trans but never did. So, the car has had 3 owners but only was driven by the original owner. Please share advice on this so I know whether it is a worthwhile investment or if I should walk away from it.
