  1. I'm trying to figure out the correct way to upholster the surrounding edges of the rumble seat lid - the bit that shows when the seat backrest is in place. I think that they are narrow strips that get nailed to the wood frame and also under the steel frame that goes between the wood and the lid edge. I'd appreciate any advice as I'd like to get this correct. Regards, Graham

  2. Hoping someone can advise me on the necessary oil seals at the front end of the crankshaft. There is a seal at the outer face of the timing case which is held in by a circular plate with two screws. The picture in the manual shows a 'crankshaft gear oil seal' ( item 71 ) which seems to point further inside. Is this the thin sleeve attached to the inside of the timing case or is there another seal inside it?

Kind regards to all PA owners, Graham

  3. Hi All. I'm busy assembling my PA engine and notice that there is a 3/16" threaded hole in the block between the crankshaft gear and the camshaft fibre gear.  According to my instruction book this is for a pipe to lubricate the cam gear. I don't remember any pipe when we stripped the motor, also the hole doesn't seem to led anywhere. Can anyone throw any light on this subject?

Thanks and a very merry Christmas to everyone.

  4. Hi All. 1931 Plymouth PA Block4.thumb.JPG.86b4c8e453717001f1d773507db3fe78.JPGCan anyone explain why there is a large round hole in the block behind the water pump backing plate?

The square hole is for coolant circulation but I don't understand the purpose of the round hole. See attached photo.

    Regards, Graham

  5. Hi Dave. Yes that would be fine. I As it's a coupe I need one locking drivers side and one non-locking passenger side. I also need a locking trunk handle if you have.

I'd probably get you to send to a friend in S. Carolina who comes to Cape Town regularly. Whereabouts are you? My email address is grahm.goetze@telkomsa.net

    Regards,

    Graham
