  1. Hey all. Not sure how to quote everyone on this site to respond directly but I'd like to thank everyone again. Car will be a couple hours north of Toronto. Not Ottawa cold but damn close! Had an issue yesterday where I thought I had flooded it (after not driving it for a week). Tried the old foot to the floor and crank it all the way didnt help. Ended up tracing it to a clogged fuel filter, the one literally right before the carb. Anyway I took the filter out, realised no gas was gettin through, replaced it and just as I was able to finally start it, terrible grinding sound. I'm assuming it is the starter either not engaging all the way or staying out? This after I worked it too hard? I'm not much of a mechanic and thats why I'm here in the first place, but everyones mega busy with winter tires I might not be able to do the work. For starters (no pun intended) where do I ever find the starter on the 455? I can barely squeeze beneath the without lifting it. Had this happen with an old plow one and I remember it only took a few taps to get it to correct itself to the point it was startable. Please excuse the lack of knowledge, right now I'm just a guy trying to get his car off someone elses driveway. Cheers, Slammer
  2. Ok alot of help here so thanks, I appreciate the time everyone. I'm no expert so I'll tread lightly and try to make the best of this info. If everyones right I don't think I can screw this up! - Slammer
  3. Hi guys, I recently acquired my dream car, straight black base 1971 Buick Riviera. I'm up in Canada and was able to get it in time for a bit of driving but I'll need to put it in the garage soon. Here's the deal. I'm leaving the country for work, I might not be back for atleast a year. I have a dry indoor spot in a relatives garage to keep it, and have more than enough people to go and check on it whenever. Buying it immediately and leaving wasn't my plan but the time to strike was now lol. It will be in a garage that will get -30c come January but otherwise is dry. Anyways, I'm trying to find the best way to do this. It might have to move so I can't exactly drain everything and rely on someone to be able to move it. It wont be insured so it likely wont be leaving the driveway but I drive up and down the block a few hundred feet is probably doable. What would be your reccomedations? Fill the tank entirely with premium? I'll need to cover it with a car cover but I'm supposed to leave a window a crack open for moisture? Would this still work? Should I just remove the battery entirely or just disconnect it consider the freezing temps and whether that would kill the batt if it doesnt get used for a couple months? I don't want to screw with the suspension so I should just pump up tires as much as i can as to not cause damage if it rests for a while? Is periodically starting the vehicle good or bad? Id say yes but appearantly it should be at operating temp for a while otherwise leaves vapour behind? Loading up on mothballs and covering intake and exhuast to keep out mice makes for than enough sense for me. Anything else to consider? Anyways whoever can help me out with any info I greatly appreciate it. I've worked very hard to be able to finally afford this car. I want it to be driveable in a year lol. - Slammer
