    PA Mike:

Let me know where you are at in PA as I am in Chambersburg and would love to help.

The photos I am posting are of a 1923-36 for sale near me several years ago. As to rarity by having "suicide doors" many open and closed cars of the period had rear mounted hinged doors.(The rear doors of my 1937 Buick are "suicide" type. Rear hinged.

DSCF4232.thumb.JPG.01cd335404a84865377f9beb5a080843.JPGThis was when it sat out on Route 30 The Lincoln Highway. Only 7 miles from my home. I have photos of the interior which was original and in very good condition. It was in really nice condition outside of not being the correct maroon body color, broken ignition switch and reversed changed over carb. A local person around St Thomas PA. bought it. I believe he is just storing it as he has not responded to my calls to see if he needed any help.

Send me a Personal Message if needed.

I’ve been awol for a while due to crazy life getting in the way of the pleasure of your all’s company on here but….

do you recall what they wanted for the car?

NEVER MIND I SAW IT ABOVE!!!!!

I still recommend contact her brother, Dan. Dan is still making ornaments. All Cindy is doing is selling what was on the shelf when Don died... some of it good, some of it not good. Dan and Cindi are not in business together.

gotcha I didnt know this!  Well hopefully all arrives in the condition is should, another reason why I only pay via protected methods!

i never send money via “friends and family” and I’ll gladly reimburse a seller the 3% PayPal fee to have a middleman if there is an issue!

id love to have Dan’s contact information if someone can message me w it just in case!

  3. Yeah I know what you mean, I really wasn’t looking to get a Goddess right now but thought if she only has one left it’s now or never!  And finding an original one In pot metal is the ever “growing issue” or swelling!

so I went ahead and ordered it!

there is apparently one of the 1928 Goddess left, as of Sunday anyway!

They still have a website at

    https://americanarrowcorp.com/

They also have mascots and articulated headlight mounts for Trippe and other steerable headlights listed.

I don’t think the website is in operation any longer but I’ll text Cindy/Cyndi Sommer and ask her.

i know last week when I attempted to access the website it was found and I just tried again and nothing....

Looks like they shut down the site at some point after Mr. Sommer passed away unfortunately!

  5. I spoke to Don Sommer’s daughter “Cindy/Cyndi” last week and was able to purchase the last 1927 Buick Goddess they had.  According to my conversation with Cindy she said they have made a decision to not manufacture anymore ornaments “at this time” and that they make them down the road but as of right now they are not making any more.

When I spoke with Cindy she did have one 1928 Buick Goddess left as well, so hopefully this information helps someone who may be looking for one!

Cindy sent me picture of both the 1927 Goddess I ended up purchasing and the 1928 as shown below....

I was sad to see that Mr. Sommer has passed away in 2019 as I had seen him on various car related shows such as Barry Meguires’ Car Krazy and I believe Leno’s Garage. (I don’t have the best memory!). It seemed Mr. Sommer has a wealth of knowledge about the industry that we all love and he was a true artisan of his craft!

That's a great looking face plate on your Gauge.  Thanks for shearing.

Thank you Michael!  It’s the same gauge face in both pictures above, just cleaned it up really well and when I did it removed the lettering so I decided I’d do some DIY etching and I’m quite happy w the results, not perfect but the difference between before and after is staggering!

  7. I finally got around to stopping to visit the car for a few, popped the fuel gauge in and while it’s not in for good it doesn’t look bad!

The etching I did came out good, I’m happy w it!  I used KBS Coatings inside the markings/letters after I etched in the new markings so it should stay this way long past my time on Earth!  I hope....

  8. I just used a company here in the USA to restore my 1927 MD plates but I had them done in porcelain, while not original any longer, I like the look and durability of porcelain !

I also have a matched set from 1927 MD, that I might have done in porcelain as well come spring....

great score on the Nj matches set!

  9. Man I am so bummed about the entire event being cancelled this year, and I know I am not alone!

When we found out ‘27 Buick two and a half year ago I didn’t realize that it would cause me to catch the old car bug the way it has!! I’ve been so excited ever since attending the Hershey swap meet and car show in 2018, I attended three days in 2018, and four days in 2019 and plan to be at four days each and every years meet from here on our.....yes “Screw You Covid-19 for fudging Up our plans!!!!”🤦🏼‍♂️😂😂😂

I am off work this week since we had planned to attend the meet!  So I will at least get out and enjoy the car a day or two and am hoping to attend the Gettysburg show!!

^Keeping 🤞🏼 that I can get off work that Saturday to attend!!

  10. What’s the latest info on the Hershey car show Saturday?  The AACA homepage says “ALL EVENTS CANCELLED!”

I want to attend however I do not want to drive several hours next Saturday to see an empty grass field so I am hoping to get accurate info!

    thanks

If I correctly recall you need to get into the early 1930's to get a dependable AC speedometer.

There is an AC speedometer in my '27 Model T and I'd love to lubricate it but as much as I'd like to I'm scared to death of it.

I went through a sour deal that wound up costing the seller AND me money as he claimed to have bought it only to flip it and the seller HE bought it from lied like a rug.

The short story is I resorted to opening it up to find out why it didn't work.

The pot metal used then is of extremely poor quality and the pot metal arch that supports the top of the spindle is very delicate.......WTH were they thinking?.........and was broken.

    No repairs were possible.

There is a good discussion at that thread >>> http://www.mtfca.com/discus/messages/506218/570330.html?1442436575

shoot me a picture of the speedometer for your ‘27 Ford, I think I have one that’s been rebuilt and is in great condition that I bought by mistake.

Yeah thats what I keep hearing, I am trying to get a hold of a correct Speedo for a 1927 Standard and maybe rebuild the inside out of a stable metal.  Just need a working speedo to maybe do so.

Just an update on the speedometer.  I have since found a speedometer that’s having the yoke replaced
