Need ID for trim piece from a late 1930s or early '40s automobile

Okay, my bad for the poor photo! I feel like a real “Nick”! How about this... the car is about 18” long (for scale).

This is a cap on a piece of trim from a late 1930s or early 40s automobile. I used it for a grill on a tether car. But I would love to know what kind of car it came on. It’s hard to see in the picture but the bottom tapers down to a V and has a screw hole. Let’s see how good you guys are!!
