  1. Pictures inside , outside,  under hood will all be necessary to determine any and all values.....

Location is critical , as shipping is part of the overall price....

Do you have the paperwork / title as some states have issues without it ......

Finally , are you looking for fair market value ??? To Maximize what you get for it .....

Or, are you offering a fair price to move it that much faster......

Without all of the above, NO ONE is just going to hand you half a Million Dollars for it , Because you have sentimental value attached to it......

  3. Leave it to you Joe P. to go to France and find a car show !!!

It is the chicken or the egg question —- Did you find the car show ???

    or Did the car show find you ??? ( L O L )

Did you meet up with Sebastien ??? And his fleet of classic cars ???

    J’espere tu enjoie ton temps tres bien…. A’ Bientot…. Ton Ami , Craig…..

    Merci Beaucoups pour Les photographes…….

  4. The Pennsylvania Revenue ( Tax ) Department has and keeps getting an updated list about the Carlisle and HERSHEY vendors…from Carlisle and HERSHEY….

Keep in mind they are Headquartered in Harrisburg —- 15 minutes from Carlisle one way , and 15 minutes from HERSHEY the other way —-such that ,they will periodically show up at Carlisle and HERSHEY , but mostly to track down the delinquents and offenders…..

One / you MUST have a Pennsylvania Tax Identification Number….

    A Pennsylvania Tax I D number is F R E E ….

The rules have changed —-back in the day , we could do it over the phone, but maybe now, it has to be done on - line……

For decades, we had an automated phone number to call in our tax data —- but that was eliminated last year / 2023….. Now it must be done on - line…..

Here is the +++ Critical +++ information

If you are deemed to be quarterly , FILE quarterly, even if it is - 0 - for that quarter…

If you are deemed to be semi - annually , FILE semi - annually, even if it is - 0 - for that half of a year…..

NEVER get on their naughty list —- where you accrue fines and penalties… They have the power and authority to make you pay on the spot ( at a show , for example )  or force you you to pack up and leave that moment….

They send pretty young ladies to execute that order —- and they will not curse at you…

They are just carrying out their duties —- and they are backed by the Pennsylvania State Police… who will be there in no time, if necessary…

My friend, Rob had that happen to him , at a Carlisle show, and he had to pay the fee and fine that minute… or be forced to pack and leave…. He paid immediately, and apologized for being delinquent … He told them that he just plum forgot…..

When I spoke to him later , he told me , that he just plum forgot….

Moral of the story —— Just don’t ever get on the Naughty List… It really is simple and easy…..

If you are semi - annual , for example , you call in your 1st half and send it in — between

July 1st through July 20th…. Call in your 2nd half and send it in — between January 1st and January 20th ….

If you never get on their Naughty list , you will never see them or hear from them —-

Just one more extra little step ( and expense ) to vending…. Not a big enough deal to keep you from presenting your wares and making some dollars….

    Hope this helps ….. Craig……

  5. jdome and everyone else,

Saturday was the most crowded we have seen it at RHINEBECK in a decade….

People paid attention to the fact that Friday and Saturday were absolutely glorious short sleeve days all day —-

And the forecast for Sunday ( unfortunately) was accurate —- colder , raw even , and very very wet …. ( I pulled the plug on the show Saturday evening —- because I had a friend help me pack up ….. Medically compromised as I am now, I need to hire help…

and my hired help bowed out ( my neighbor vendor’s kid —- and he ignored me the whole show —- see if I ever hire him , again…. He had to help his father for FREE , and yet his PAYING JOB , right next door , he ignored and never apologized…. how about that ?!?! )

You saw, jdome , I have the right parts at the right price —- and can get very very busy, indeed !!!

Plus, you heard my line —- when the people ask if they can have my information, I respond , “ Smart People do !!! This is not beanie babies and sunglasses “ !!!

Plus, I am extremely well known up there —- I have many , many regulars….

jdome, you were indeed the nicest and most personable “ newbie “ ….. Thank You !!!

    Craig…..

  6. Burrell88 ,

Welcome to the Greatest Antique and Classic cars website on the planet…

More wisdom and help here than you can routinely find elsewhere, for sure…..

  7. Hey Jdome,

It was nice meeting you —- and I hope your extended travel ( you undoubtedly win the long distance award !!! ) was trouble free…..

Not being a HERSHEY or Carlisle , it is clearly that area’s biggest show —- and its first function being a Park —- means it isn’t set up to be a car show venue first….

I hope you had a decent time —- and enjoyed most of what you came there for… It truly is sad that Mother Nature ruined the Sunday car show and show itself, because you really would have enjoyed the Sunday Antique and Classic 1500 cars show….

    Yours, Craig…..

  8. RHINEBECK REPORT :

I am at a rest stop , having lunch on my way home….

I NEVER leave RHINEBECK early —- unless it is weather related —- and this one unfortunately is all about that —- the “ R “ word….

    Friday ( from 11 : 30 ish — to —- 4 : 30 ish ) and today / Saturday ( from 7 : 50 ish to

5 : 00 ish ) were absolutely Perfect Short Sleeve Shirt days , even the evenings were nice and mild —- you really couldn’t ask for two better May Days….

Both days, a decent amount of people were buying ….. The fellow vendors whom I spoke to all had a very decent two / 1 2/3 days…. I imagine that the normally Sunday people were here today…. Those who paid attention to the weather report , had to know to come today , and not tomorrow / Sunday….

The Car Show Field was packed to the limit today !!! I get to see them all enter the field, and a lot of patrons sit along the fence line, watching the cars enter the field…

It was an endless line of cars for three hours !!!

Here is the sad part :

Sunday is generally the big day for the Antiques and Classics in the Car Show itself…

I will say , that indeed , it rivals HERSHEY for a Great Car Show —- but it is clearly newer than HERSHEY—- as in more 1950s through 1970s —- not so many 1940s and earlier —- though you will see a decent amount of Ford Model A s and T s…. In a normal year Sunday….

    However, the forecast from Sunday at 1 : 00 A.M. through Monday at 5 : 00 A.M. calls for 28 straight hours of precipitation ( and that CAN happen ) !!! The hourly wetness accumulations are .01 , .01 , .02 , .02 , .02 , .03 , .03 , .02 , etc….. with possible showers , so it MIGHT NOT be bad , but it won’t be Good !!!

The eight people I know that had cars there today, to be in the Sunday show , all left earlier in the day —- and will NOT be back for Sunday…. Easily, 66.7 % to 75 % of the vendors are now gone —- so , if by chance, you are interested in going to the show Sunday, expect a sparse turnout , a sparse car show , and 1 / 4 to 1 / 3 of the vendors…

    We can’t fight Mother Nature…. She reigns ( pun intended ) L O L !!!

Back to hitting the road …. Craig out……

  10. I have a decent amount of parts for you --- Caddy from the middle 1930s through 1941 and for the 1947 Ford.....I am strictly New Mechanical Parts ---- Master Cylinder , Wheel Cylinders, Brake Hoses, and more... Nothing used , but there might some of that at the show ......

I have many , many friends from SWEDEN , Norway , Finland , and the Netherlands who come to Fall Carlisle and HERSHEY.....

Also England , France , Spain , and Belgium... Also Israel , Australia,  and New Zealand.... Also Columbia, Argentina , Chile , and

    Puerto Rico....

Safe trip to you , jdome..... See you there...... Craig....,

  11. Friday is +++ NOT +++ vendors only, as incorrectly stated above….

    Vendors enter the fields at 9 : 00 A.M. on Friday….

Spectators are allowed in at —- they say —- NOON on Friday —- but if the line to get in is large —- and it usually is —- they start allowing patrons in at 11 : 30 A.M. or even

    11 : 00 A.M.

While RHINEBECK is not the size of Carlisle or HERSHEY —- it is clearly the biggest swap meet in that entire area and beyond….

Also, while those vendors have “ heard of “ Carlisle and HERSHEY !!!! they are far too distant for them to go to…. ( L O L ) !!!! Some of the vendors at this show —- that is the ONLY show they do all year !!!

You will see a very distinctly different batch of vendors, spectators, and it is definitely a worthwhile show to be a part of ……

Parts will range from the 19-teens and twenties —- to the 1980s and 1990s….

And mercifully, you won’t see 200 - 250 cheapie chineseum tool vendors , only 50…..

My parts range from the 1930s ( so I am pre - WW II ) to the 1970s…..

I am on the side of the horticulture building , in the row that leads the show cars up on to the car show field…. Stop on by —- including Friday….. Craig…..

  12. Hey Walt G ,

Not a lot to go on , for sure…..

but, I have found that The 55er, while humble and gracious , is one of the most knowledgeable people on the planet !!! If The 55er responds, he is right 99 % of the time —- a welcome addition to our hobby ……

I can get you his phone number , if you need….. Craig…..

  15. pkhammer,

I agree with you --- hard sell never works --- they back away and don't buy , so why bother .....

When they say , " I'll be back " , I will respond whatever the truth is , such that if I have three of them , I will tell them ,

    " NO problem , I have 3 of them  , I won't be out... And I will be open until 6 : 00.... "

I dare say that I get more be - backers than most, because I use a laid back approach... I am easy ( as I hand them my phone number ---

If you want it now , fine, otherwise , call me when you want it ..... "

You know what really does SUCK , though.... When they say they want something,  and you leave five messages / courtesy calls ( in baseball , three strikes you're out ) and they don't return your calls --- those are the biggest dirtbags / inconsiderate people on the planet....

    Craig.....

  16. Joe P. ,

    I have to respectfully disagree...

You are humble and a Great Person...,

Those of us who know you, recognize that you are more intelligent than 99.9 % of the planet  ( that is why I value our friendship --- we were almost classmates !!! ) , so you are not " a cheap sob " -- you are very shrewd and wise, so you are not going to be duped or taken....

Hope you made it home safely.... Yours, Craig....

Glad to hear that you had a good week here at Spring Carlisle —- the North Field can be slow for sales some years for sure, it is good to know the patrons are getting to you…

For the rest of you whom are interested, here is the Saturday night report and final one for Spring Carlisle 2024….

Here is the good news : Sunday at Spring and Fall Carlisle are now F R E E !!!
Here is the bad news : If you come, there will be a long walk between open vendors….

It is 8 : 00 P.M. , I just finished lunch , and I tooted around the fields to check out the action….

We are shortly going to lose our daylight , aisles are clogged with vehicles being packed , a lot of vendors are packing up at a feverish rate….

Some aisles are very very barren , more and more are becoming that way , and I would estimate that there may be about 10 - 15 % of vendors remaining….

There are still about 100 cars in the car corral , so perhaps you can catch an owner who really doesn’t want to bring home a vehicle he was hoping to sell , at a vulnerable point and strike a deal and score a bargain…

I am 100 % packed , awaiting my hired hand for tomorrow 8 A.M. - 9 A.M. to assist me getting everything into the vehicle , as many of you know or are aware that I am medically disabled/ challenged —- and have to hire someone to help me get my merchandise out at the onset of the show —- and back in at the end of the show…

( More things in my life I must pay for —- just wonderful )

Every fellow vendor that I know did from decent to good or very good….And, it sounds like timmy25252 above, did Very Well …..

It is getting dark now, and the Carlisle night lights just came on….Later…..

  18. Today, Friday, was easily our worst day of weather….

    First drizzle moment at 10 : something —- 3 minutes…..

    Second drizzle moment at later 10 : something…. 5 minutes….

Third one was bad —- 11 : something —- harder , continuous , rain for at least

a half an hour or 45 minutes —- chased a lot of people into the grand stands / into the inside buildings / to the food court / into their cars , etc., etc.
I have to believe a lot gave up and said “ outta here “ and left….

The rest of the afternoon , we had a few extra 3 to 5 minute periods of drizzle —- there were still a —- decent —- amount of people walking around , and a much higher percentage of those people who stuck it out —-were buying !!! And some of those who bought from me , I gave them extra discount for sticking it out !!! I rewarded them for being Manly Men , and let them know that !!!

I did tarp up earlier than the last three (3) days —- when I closed at 6: 00 P.M. ….

Today, I did tarp up at 5 : 15 P.M. , and I was still easily the last one in my area to close up…. Some booths around me called it “ quits “ by 4 : 00 P.M…..

I have heard that some vendors left today and tonight…. Not over here by me —- I see one commercial 30 ‘ x 30 ‘ tent a couple aisles away that is abandoned —- but over here —- 97 % of the vendors are still here….

For those who are considering coming —- come !!! Still plenty here , to see and to do…

I do recommend getting here as early as you can —- 6 : 45 to 7 : 00 A.M. —- because we all know that vendors will be leaving all day tomorrow / Saturday —- and by Saturday at 5 : 00 P.M. —- it will be down to 20 % or less….

Hope to see you here tomorrow…. There is definitely nothing better to do !!!!

    Craig ……

  19. cutlasguy,

I always take the time to thank you for all your time —- a lot of us Love you for taking the time to give us a sense of Carlisle’s cars season after season , year after year….

I am locked in my booth — and can’t get out there to check it out — so I ( and many many others ) appreciate your taking the time to highlight some beautiful vehicles….

    Craig …..
