  1. If you read the fine print on the websites almost all the "ethanol" fighting additives they will tell you that their product will help prevent metal corrosion but not prevent degradation to older plastic/rubber parts in the fuel system.

  2. If there are no non-ethanol gas stations in your area try a small airport. They sell 100 LL (100 octane low lead). Just take gas cans. A little pricey at $6.00 per gallon but stock original Riv's love it.

  3. Congrats and welcome. You will find it enjoyable learning all the ins and outs of the Riv. When you can't figure out on your own there are a bunch of amazingly nice and understanding folks on here that have plenty of knowledge, patience and understanding all willing to help us out!

  4. I just read this online. Keep an eye out for it: WILLOW STREET: Southern Regional Police are investigating the theft of a green 1930 Ford Model T sedan stored in a Haulmark trailer in southern Willow Street. Police said the car was taken between July 28 and Wednesday and are asking anyone with information about the theft to contact them at (717) 872-0536. Investigators said they are reviewing security camera video.

  5. It's not that bad. I've seen worse. If you can weld in patch panels and do the metal work yourself, that will reduce cost to repair rust out.

The most common cause of the trunk and floor rusting out is water leaking in at the back window, the front windshield, and a leaking heater core.

Check them in that order. Remove the stainless trim around the windows and look at the body down in the corners. Get in the trunk with the trim off and look up for light shining through.

Once the water gets in, the rug and padding holds it there next to the metal and it rusts out.

Try not to take too much apart at one time. Work on small projects. Drive the car between projects. Then go do another project. Driving the car is fun and will keep you motivated to tackle the next project.

Good points. I just looked at a base 65 Riv with a 425. Looks like the previous owner kept it outside 24/7. The paint on the trunk, roof and hood has peeled off but funny thing is no rust on the bare metal. However, lots of thick crusty surface rust on everything metal on the bottom of the car. The rear of the roof had the remnants of duct tape from one end to the other which was clearly used to hold plastic over the rear window. The window gasket was gone. Water seeped into every crevice. All the wood trim inside was warped. Good points was no holes like this car pictured. Motor in good shape and numbers matching. The biggest drawback was the $8,000 price he thinks he's going to get.

  6. I got something done today. Now the turn signals work, windshield washer works, brake lights work;)

I removed the rear shocks, and started to take the front suspension apart.

I noticed that the springs are heated to get the car low. How much does this effect on the handling? I know its not good, but I was thinking about installing air suspension next winter, so I need to manage one summer with those springs if possible.

BTW its nice to work on a california car, all the bolts come loose easy. No rusted bolts because of the salted roads..

Just came across your post today after a search on 'Windshield Washer Motor' since mine just stopped working. When I hit the washer button on the dash the fluid no longer squirts out. How did you fix yours? Anything I should look for first or a checklist?
