  1. Appreciate the info Waldren. I got my LZOC application filled out and in the mail. See if I can keep this thing running.
  2. While filling out my ap to join LZOC it asks for chassis and body numbers which are Body #96h-73-11729 and chassis #H79747. I'm new enough to this and was looking for any info on these numbers, at least where I can start looking.
  3. Grant, elegant in its simplicity. Actually it sounds like an idea to go with. Just never had run across this before. Thanks for the tip. Tom
  4. I just pulled my distributor from my 38 special coupe. First one of the hold-down clips is rusted off and gone, no biggy but the rotor flops all over the hardened shaft, and I did have a new one and it fit loosely on the shaft also, not as bad but did rock back and forth, not laterally like the old one, but figured after some usage it probably would. Never had a rotor fit so sloppily. The new one I had just received from CARS. The distrib. is a delco remy mod. 1110801, looks like it came with car. Those shafts wear? Otherwise seems fine, thought maybe just send it off for rebuild? I noticed CARS offers this service, or is it easy enough and all parts readily available for a do-it-yourself. Also on a simpler note I thought I would try Don at DandD to recast my steering wheel.
  5. Just thought I'd say I did put a couple of ptctures in the member's gallery. Still trying to figure how to get them here but one step at a time.
  6. Hello, Mark. I do plan on joining up with the pre-war division, just haven't got around to it, also tried to sign up with the 37/38 Buick group but didn't get it done. Also been trying to figure how to up-load some pictures, not quite what you would call a computer wizz but I'll get it eventually. Do have enough problems with car and hope to start some technical threads soon but don't want to ask to many questions too soon without trying to find out through some of the already published resources.
  7. Thanks, Brian. I checked and didn't have anything else stamped on my firewall tag and it does have a shelf in the trunk where you could possibly stuff the spare but I believe if it wasn't factory installed with dual sidemounts it must have been soon thereafter, the patina and fit sure make it looks like it has always been this way. Looks good anyways.
  8. Great info folks, much appreciated. Sort of helps me believe it is totally original. I wondered but didn't think it would show the possible options, the car does have a radio (not working of course) and dual sidemounts. I figured in that day and age options would not be included in the numbers.
  9. I've been looking for all these different resource sites.Appreciate the info, and Mr. JSCHEIB, I see you are in CT. That's where I just had the car brought down from, my son was storing it for me.
  10. Thanks for getting back, guys. I've seen some of dave's postings and he does know his stuff. Once I get some of this forum and posting stuff figured out I'll be sure to load in some pictures.
  11. Hello , Guys. Another newbie here who recently became proud owner of this car, believe it to be quite original so it is a bit rough, got a good bit of work to do but before I get into more repairs I just wondered if somebody could give me a rundown on the numbers, found some, but if somebody might be able to help I would love to understand the history of this car. I'm new to this world of forums so please bear with me. Car is 1938 Mod 46-s(Sport coupe with opera seats?) Style 38-4427 Body 3575 Trim 400 (Tan Bedford Cord?) Paint 400 (IM 1674 Whistler Gray Poly) Engine # 43510360 (248c.i.?) Frame #13367124. Please and Thank You for help!
