  1. It's been a while since I've posted, but my 1990 Reatta managed to survive the major hurricanes that hit St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands in 2017! Thank goodness it was in storage. My other car didn't fair as well, nor did our house. I want to get my Reatta back on the road and with only 55K miles...it should be on the road. However, I urgently need to find a ABS Hydraulic Unit for the brakes. Can anyone help? Thanks in advance for your help. Beverly "Island Girl" Hinckley
  2. Jimbo, is the trim that you are expecting to have this Fall in good/great shape?
  3. Thanks much for the information re. the molding. I have contacted Jim Finn and he has that I need.
  4. I can't believe it, but the only Reatta on the entire island of St. Thomas was in an accident while parked yesterday. The person in the parking space next to me [driving a big SUV!] turned to sharply getting out of their space and scratched/dented the driver's rear panel of my car and cracked 2/3rds of the black trim molding. The car can be repaired--even though they will likely have to repaint the entire car, but I don't know where I can get a replacement for the trim. Can anyone help? Distraught "Island Girl" P. S. I have the dark grey Reatta and the trim/molding is black.
  5. The driver's door lock is not engaging completely to the "locked" position when I use the key fob. So, it's beginning to be a nuisance when I think the door is locked come back to the car hit the unlock button and the security alarm goes off. Any suggestions?
  6. Thanks for the suggestions on the horn pad. It's hard to find a salvage yard in St. Thomas...because their aren't any other Reatta's on island. But we do have lots of fishing line!
  7. Dear all, it's the lone owner of the 1990 Reatta on St. Thomas, Virgin Islands. For the 2nd time in the past 2 years, the poorly designed horn cover on the driver's side of the steering wheel [grey] has broken. Does anyone have a lead on how I might get a replacement?
  8. Good Day from St. Thomas where we are awaiting the arrival of Hurricane or tropical depression Danny. Already secured the only Reatta on island in a concrete storage unit I'm not sure how this has happened, but the console trim in my Reatta seems to have become slightly displaced and the trim is separating from the upholstered area. Maybe because of the 90 degree weather. I'm attaching a picture. Does anyone know if there is a way to get a replacement that is in better condition? Any other suggestions? Beverly [aka: Island Girl]
  9. Will check the thread for possible leads. Thanks
  10. Thanks for the temporary fix suggestions. Have put on a strap to hold it in place. Will make sure that it is tied on well!
  11. Hello from St. Thomas, Virgin Islands to all my Buick Reatta Forum friends, Owning my Reatta on an island is great when it's running well, but it is truly a hassle when it's not feeling well and needs a part! We were preparing to leave island for about 1-1/2 months on vacation and had driven the car to our storage unit. Upon arrival, the engine stopped and I couldn't put it into any gear. The only way to stop it from rolling, was to put on the hand brake. In panic, I called my sole mechanic on-island who tried to describe what part in the engine we needed to find and check in order to get the car in gear and started again. He diagnosed the problem correctly as a disconnected GEAR SHIFT CABLE. [i think this is the same part that was recalled a number of years ago on the Reattas]. Once the cable was temporarily connected, the car started. The mechanic has tried unsuccessfully to find a replacement gear shift cable and connection bolt. Can someone help me find this part so I can safely get back on the road? As usual, thanks in advance for your help and guidance. Beverly "Island Girl"
  12. Thanks! Purchased the recommended parts.
  13. Ronnie, Thanks much! I'll start looking and keep my fingers crossed. Beverly
  14. Got it! As usual, Thanks so much! Any thoughts about the trunk release motor/solenoid?
  15. It's my understanding from the mechanic that it is the HVAC blower fan that should be running at variable speed. He said it was the AC Fan relay. After a quick look, he didn't say anything about the engine fan. Since, I am on the mainland, I'm trying to get everything I need in terms of parts to resolve the problem. Can you help on this? What about the trunk release motor/solenoid? Thanks much!
  16. Hi, to my Reatta on-line help mates! There must be a little mean "minion" playing around with my St. Thomas based Reatta when I'm not looking! I'm still trying to resolve the trunk release issue. I've now got a cute piece of yarn tied to the emergency trunk release handle so that on those random days when it doesn't work, I can just reach through the hatch and pull the yarn. According to my 1 on-island mechanic, the trunk release motor needs to be replaced, but based on various forum members' advise it's the solenoid. Regardless of which it is...neither is available on island. I'm on the mainland for a month or so, could someone tell me where I can get the solenoid and/or the motor to take back with me. [Please include part #] Separately, the AC fan in the engine seems to be stuck on one speed. [Causes the engine to run a bit hot]. The mechanic says it should be running at variable speeds and that I need an AC fan relay. Any suggestions on who might have this part or whether the entire fan motor will have to be replaced. As usual...big thanks for your help. P. S. Thanks to your guidance, I was able to find the horn pad replacement--even though it is a different model from the original and the entry door light and the cigarette lighter!

  18. Ronnie, does the Reatta Store carry any of the parts that I need?
  19. Believe it or not, we don't have any monkeys of the animal variety on island! Magically, after sitting for 24 hours...the trunk popped open again and has been working fine for a day. Will still have the relay checked and will locate the release. Per you suggestion and PontiacDude's experience, I will keep a yardstick handy! Having the only Reatta on island, it is definitely a "guy magnet", so I'm sure that I'll be able to get help if I use the damsel in distress ploy!
  20. Thanks. I have found the list of resources and sent a message to Jim. You can go overboard with the drinking, sunning and looking when you live on "the rock". But with only about 50,000 people [who you tend to run into all the time], it can get a little tiresome!
  21. Hi! It really might be less of a hassle to have you come down 3 times a year and service the Reatta! You bring the parts! Re. the needed parts--which vendors are you referring to? I don't see any listed. Re. the trunk release relay issue--since I can't open the trunk to access the relays are you suggesting that I put on a lot of suntan lotion and crawl through the drop-down door behind the seats?!! :confused:Houdini, I am not! Will try to get my one on-island mechanic to get it open and do the recommended fix that you have suggested.
  22. Hi all! I've still got the only 1990 Reatta in St. Thomas! Lots of offers to purchase...but there is no way I would sell--even though a few little things are getting annoying. I need some help/guidance on several things. The console cigarette lighter doesn't work. I need to have a replacement. Any suggestions about where I can find? At some point, the plastic, rectangular entry light cover on the lower corner of the passenger side has gone missing and I would like to replace it. Finally, one of the horn button covers on the right side of the steering wheel [it's a little plastic gizmo with a "horn" printed on it that has prongs and just snaps into place] has lost two prongs and won't stay in place. A replace needed in grey. Don't know part number or who might still carry these. Here's a mechanical question. in the last few days, I've noticed that my trunk lock has been operating sporadically. Neither the key fob, glove-box button or key will get it open. The first time it happened, it magically corrected itself and started to open properly again. Now, it has happened again and it won't open this time. Thoughts about the problem? Thanks for your help as usual! Reatta Island Girl
  23. Sorry for not knowing "Ronnie". Could you tell me his site location. Or is it RockAuto? Thanks!
  24. Barney, thanks much for the guidance. You were right about RockAuto. I found what I needed and they are shipping them to me here in STT. When I take the Reatta to the mechanic, I will also share your recommendation to flush the fluid. Beverly
  25. Thanks to all the members who helped me fix the headlamp issue with my St. Thomas based 1990 Buick Reatta. With all the hills and braking on the island, I need to replace the rear brake pads. Replaced the front pads last week and was able to find the needed part on island. But, can't locate the brake pads for the rear. Any suggestions about where I might get the parts would be much appreciated. Beverly
