Specifically what are the problem(s) you are encountering?

Please provide details of what work you have done, the parts you used and what is now the problem.

My 68 has the repro actuators below the headlights. They work fine.

As a precaution, I replaced the firewall vacuum port, the rubber vacuum hose from the intake manifold to the port. I also replaced all of the rubber vacuum hoses for the headlight system from the vacuum reservoir in the driver fender, to the vacuum controller next to the battery to the actuators themselves. My vacuum controller is also a new NOS part.

mine simply do not work, at first i got a little movement

but the vacuum actuators move kinda against their will (rust on piston)

to get to vacuum distribution in fender, can this be done without "major removal" of wheel well / fender?

i should replace all vacuum hose!

anyone have a complete vacuum hose diagram?

    thanks

They have been listed in past issues of the Riview.  The 69 Camaro canisters will also fit.  The only difference is one of the vacuum nipples is curved vs. straight but once the hose is on you can’t tell the difference.

.....circling back around to this - does this actually work?

i did buy them....fiddled with them - then gave up

    any luck, anyone?

jonahboo,  This may be a little late but I used this item discretely mounted Digital Amplifier Mini Bluetooth Stereo Amplifier to drive a dual driver stereo speaker from Classic Care Stereos that fits in the rear seat 6x9 location in my 65.  It can receive input from a Bluetooth device like an ipod/iphone for your playlist (that is one way I use it) and it has hard wired inputs that I use for a discretely mounted Satellite Radio input (although it can take input from any line level output).  I only get modern sounds from the back as I kept my original 4x10 speaker and original Delco AM Radio in the dash (they both work) for originality.  All I had to do is get power to the amp, run speaker wires to the back speaker, set up the satellite radio and voila.  Just a thought.

    Rock On

    gord

    wow

that is a neat solution,,,,,,,,,and much much cheaper!

maybe i'll grab one for one of the other cars!

how did you get power to it? - looks like it uses a 9v type AC plug?

    thanks!

    Good morning,

    IF you don't want to hack "ANYTHING" you may do as I do;

IPod on the front seat and a portable speaker sits cozy in my back seat. Blue Tooth or hard wire, re-chargeable. Its got great bass. I first bought a portable Bose speaker for twice the price. This speakers' freq' range blew the Bose away by far.

thanks for the idea - it's similar to what I use now.......but don't like leaving it in view (rarely lock the doors)

and I forget to charge the JBL unit often enuff!

Front speaker is 4x10, You can get a dual cone stereo speaker for this position on the Retrosound site.

    Rea seat speaker IS 6X9.

    awesome

do they (or anyone) make a dual cone 6x9?

    thank you!

  6. Good Morning

    case subject:

    '68 Riviera

I NEED TUNES - I commute about 1 hour a day (each way) - plan on driving it 1-2x a week

I am looking at the RetroSound stereo conversion radio (Bluetooth yadda yadda).....was wondering if anyone went down this path? - results?

    also

can someone please tell me what size speaker is in the front dash and the rear seat?

my interior is also perfect.....so - I don't want to hack anything.....just want some music....

    thank you

yes, I considered getting a rebuilt am/fm.....but they are in the $300 range and I need a new power ant. too (another $100+).....might as well move into the 21st century!

  7. Good morning

back story - fuel filled up my 68 Riv last night (car is recent purchase)

got to where I was going....smelled gas

took a peak under gas tank - and saw this:

single rubber hose from top of tank was leaking gas (assume from when I was braking and tank was "sloshing around")....it is not connected to anything!

in near proximity are (2) metal (fuel - assumed) lines entering up onto frame....and beyond (both different diameters)

is this a rubber tube a  breather tube?

can I merely cap it off?

    or

do I connect to metal line?

currently neither metal line is connected to anything

if I connect to metal line....what happens with the other line?

    thank you

  8. Good afternoon!

    welp, acquired a '68 Rivi......

I do not want to get carried away in the build, just want a driver

    looking for:

    front bumper

    maybe passenger door

    passenger rear 1/4 moulding

it needs a lot of stuff, but just gonna enjoy it as a driver - any leads are much appreciated

  9. hey guys

I replaced my master cylinder on my 55 Special

naturally the old line going to master tore at nut

so i installed a new PARTIAL line to a UNION - and now it leaks there

i might just install new line from the master to the "T" coupling

a am having a hard time seeing where that T is (somewhere by driver side wheel well.....is there an EZ way to get to it?

    thanks

  10. Jess, You said it was full of fluid and would pump up. There is a cup seal on the plunger in the master cylinder, rapid movement will make it "flare' out and seal against the cylinder wall. When pressure is released it relaxes again and won't seal under normal pedal application. The other mode of failure is usually to bleed off slowly while holding at stoplight. Good luck, John

that said are we still thinking "rebuild the master"?

    or

    how to correct this?

    thank you

  11. hey guys -

so i brought the car outta winter hibernation - went for a nice ride 2 days ago (no issues). Went to drive it today and the brake pedal goes all the way to the floor - pumps up and holds - then when re-applied drops all the way again.

    Master had good fluid level

no visible fluid leaks by wheels

    all stock brakes

my first thought is master cylinder - thoughts

easy rebuild? - or buy from Kanter $$$$?

    thank you

    Jess

  12. how about a guitar to match?

    Fender MIM Telecaster Custom –

    Re-model

    I had

the MIM RI – quite honestly – the existing WRHB lacked Personality – however – I

really liked the style and feel of the guitar

At the same time I was looking for a regular

    pick up tele config.

So I decided to re-do the guitar I already had

I am more of a ‘stained’ guitar guy – but I

had gotten this on trade a year ago and it was black – so doing a re-paint was

not a big deal (scuff exiting finish – not down to bare

    wood)

    I already

had some paint left over from my 55 Buick I painted last summer (I painted it in

    mom’s garage )

    I

    am a sucker for Bigsby’s – so I added a B5 “F” logo

    one

    So here are

    the modds:

    Bigsby

    GFS pick

    ups:

    Pure Vintage" Neovin Noiseless Tele

    Pair

H96 Mini Birds- Covered Mini Humbuckers-

Warmoth Pickguard in white – without any pick

up routs – ‘cuz deluxes come 1 of 3 ways (none, Gibson HB, and WRHB) – I chose

none (btw – the screw holes do not align with existing MIM screw pattern – no

    biggie

    New DZMarzio pots

Lottsa Routing and more routing to

accommodate new lower switch, added 5th pot and new mini

    HB

    After paint it

is key to rub out finish with wet sand (800 for runs, 1000, 1500 and 2000) –

then Compound, Swirl remover, Glaze etc

Gold and white to match the Buick wink.gif

  13. yes my car had the full cover - i do not like them - so i acquired the other rims and clips and then the caps (which are near perfect)

they used the same full covers i believe from 55-6 - i also got a clean set of '54's i toyed with installing those as well

    couple more pics:

  14. I like the black rims . Need a picture with the hubcaps on. Rims in the same gold color would work also. The gold color sets you apart no doubt. You matched the dash in the same color. That's key. What is lurking under the hood?

    254 N/H 2 bbl - all stock for now

the red wheels have the built in Dog Dish clips, the black do not - it needs tires so - i might repaint the red rims either black or gold and re-shoe.....also considering just plain ol' chrome reverse.....i can't make up my mind

    can't wait for spring

    thanks for the love

  15. ....Car was running when parked but has been sitting a few years = love that line

honestly - I f you are not looking for a 4 door Sedan - I'd hold off until I found something i really wanted

I am not a huge fan of the tourback 4 door cars - unless they are un-molested survivors
