Complete minus carb, air cleaner and oil pump, disassembled for inspection and ready for the hot tank and machining. Sat in a wrecked 50 Olds parts car for years, finally decided to pull it for a future rod project. Letting it go to clear some space in the shop. Crank wouldn’t turn so I disassembled the motor to ensure nothing broken. Turned out to be 3 pistons rusted stuck in the bores. Light surface rust and will clean up well with a re-bore (I've had worse, even pitted, and they cleaned up fine). Bores have minimal ridge at the top. Don’t have bore gages, but my dial calipers indicate 3.750 dia which is factory stock size, plenty room for re-bore. Freeze plugs were rusted out. I flushed the water jackets and scoured the block for cracks. None found. Heads have about 5 exhaust manifold bolts broken off. Crank and cam have not been removed, they rotate free. Crank will need turned as some rod journals are grooved. Oil pan is dented. About the old 4 speed Hydro- I’m pretty dumb when it comes to trannys.
