If they are the same, I would be interested in the side mounts for the spares ... and probably the luggage rack. Are there photos available? And is shipping to OZ possible?
-
They appear to be the same as the ones used in BMC Minis and Coopers - except the connectors are now spade, not bullet style.

Thanks 1930.
That's a relief. I thought my '29 DA had some aftermarket master cylinder fitted. I will check with that supplier (where is Napa?) to see if I can get a replacement. The one I have seems permanently shorted out, so the lights are always on.
-
When did Dodge/Chrysler bring in stop lights operated by an hydraulic switch on the master cylinder? ... and, how were they wired? I guess they would involve a dual filament bulb in the rear light.
-
Sorry for the delay, these are replacements (PBR) and my 3 hoses are all the same length front and back. That's as good as I can measure under the car... only the hose length, the threaded fittings add extra.
-
Mine is about 320 mm or 12.5 inches. I think the front 2 and the rear are the same.
-
OK ... under QUICK LINKS > EDIT OPTIONS you can turn on the ability to save sent messages and to be notified of new PM. The system had defaulted to turn these options off.
-
I sent a couple, but the total message doesn't change over 24 hours. Also it appears to keep no record of the messages sent as it did previously.

Hmmmm.... thanks for that. The DH6 is clearly different as it is not circular, but the DA looks to be as low as possible. It all depends on the volume of oil required, and I would have thought the lowest position was too low to hold 4 pints? I had memory of it being about 4 o'clock, but I can find no photos to prove it.
-
I have had the diff on my 1929 DA apart for sometime.
I realised on re-assembly that the domed 'banjo' cover can go back in any of a dozen orientations. I want to set the oil filler hole at the correct level, so can someone say at which height the filler plug should be?
Imagine the banjo as a clock face (from the rear of the car) .... Does the filler plug go at 3 o'clock, 4 o'clock or 5 o'clock?

Thanks 1930,
These are the ones I saw. Unfortunately I don't know Bill Gess so maybe he will read this. They look quite complicated to reproduce - cast iron as you described. I may have to hang out for a used set??
-
Hi Vern,
It already is a 6-wheeler with two spares on the guards. Does this mean it was 7-wheeler? I have seen somewhere on this forum (but long since lost it), a rack with 2 cast iron brackets holding what looks like a 2-piece pressed metal rack that is hinged in the middle. There are also bolt holes in the bumperette supports that appear to take a rack. (look closely)

Much appreciated. I can go from there. I have since found a local car in good condition that has the originals to copy.

Hi RobV,
Thanks for that. Pricey is right! I would appreciate the diameter of the locking rod ... also the longer vertical rod that goes up to the top clamp. I can't see how that attaches at the bottom end. Does the locking rod pass through it, or does it also screw into the rear block (which is missing on mine)?
-
A late call ... but IF you get any spares, I am interested for a DA roadster in Oz. I have the front blocks that take the lock mechanism, but no rear blocks or locking rods on either side. As you say, impossible to source. I have been looking for a decent photo of a finished assembly to see how difficult remaking them might be.

Thanks Dave,
That seems to tally with what others have told me. So the 251 should have a bit more grunt than the original 208 CID. Should I specify capacity when ordering gaskets?
-
Hi from the Dodge car discussions,
Could any of you shed some light on the identity of the engine shown in discussion thread:
http://forums.aaca.org/ubbthreads.php/topics/580241/Help_identifying_Dodge_engine#Post580241

Hey thanks Elmo,
That's enough confidence for me to get a gasket set and see. I have looked at Myers website to try and match pictures of gaskets to my engine, and I think I will be OK to order one based on the '50s age. Would it be sufficient to describe it as 25" long block Chrysler?
-
I can't find a name on the distributor. Can the photo above help?
-
At least we are spreading the local language! In Australia, remove anything after the first syllable, and then add "ie", hence dizzie, gennie, carbie, hemi, leftie, ... it saves typing and unnecessary talking.
But sorry, the stamp definitely reads "TE1-2784..." and it is fitted with a Delco-Remy generator. So, this remains a mystery.
I guess any Chrysler/Dodge/Plymouth flat-6 gaskets will fit?
-
OK ... found it. Very indistinct (probably ground off) but it seems to say...
TE1-2784
on the block. Remember it also has 1534099 stamped clearly on the head

I have a side-valve 6-cylinder engine fitted to a DA Roadster, and would like to accurately identify it before ordering any gaskets/components. I am aware that it is not the original for the car, but the engine is as follows:
* length of head approx. 25 inches
* K209 cast in the head
* #1534099 stamped on the head
* 1402529 cast in the block along with the DPCD logo
* fitted with downdraft Ball & Ball carburettor
* currently running on 12 volts
* mechanical fuel pump on front RHS of block
Any suggestions would be appreciated. It's clearly a Chrysler/Dodge/Desoto, but that's all I can guess.
CLUM Switch connections?
in Dodge & Dodge Brothers
Posted
Dear all,
I know we have discussed this switch elsewhere, (http://forums.aaca.org/attachments/f143/29042d1246001667t-1929-dodge-da6-36804.jpg), but never got to the issue of connections.
Does anyone know what is usually connected to the 6 terminals on a DA6?
Mine is finally functional, but wires are confused (including the central one to the horn). Some people seem to connect park lights and headlights together, but what about high-beam? Any old diagrams would be appreciated.
