Original 1957 Ford Fairlane 500 Retractable

stock_steve

This is a super well-preserved 1957 Ford Retractable that I saw at a local car show in Westbrook, Connecticut, on Saturday, May 12, 2007. In chatting with the car's owner, it was apparently his dad's car originally, and was driven very sparingly (such that I think I recall the owner saying it now has only somewhere in the 30,000-miles range on the odometer). Evidently everything still works too! The owner also pointed out about how the car is completely unrusted (even around the headlights), which is quite rare for one of these, especially one that has lived its life in New England; again, from my dim memory, I'm thinking he might've said that his dad never even took it out in rain. Anyway, it sure was a fantastic "time machine" to observe.

A small report about the overall event, which was run by students from a local high school, to benefit worthy causes, and also help support local soup kitchens, appears at: http://members.aol.com/cgextras/MorganShow2007.html
