62 leSabre glove box door spring

the spring i refer to is just under the bottom hinge.  i took off the door in fall and the only way i think it can go is with the spring visible and basically doing nothing. that is, it doesnt seem to help anything close or serve any purpose. can anybody give me a link to a pic of an unmolested open glove box door.  or do you know if an assembly manual for this car would tell about or show that? thx.
