1939 BMW 327/328 Cabriolet. When this car was found by a prior owner, it was a very solid and good original car with a damaged engine. The original 328 engine was replaced during the restoration with an incorrect Bristol engine. The Bristol engine was just recently removed and is now part being re-united with its proper automobile. Today, this rare BMW is basically complete with the exception of its engine and is now being offered for sale as-is. The older, frame-on, restoration was likely done about 30 years ago. The car has an extremely solid body with good floors, trunk pan, sills, etc. All of the body panels including the spare tire cover and trunk assembly, fender skirts, hood, doors, fenders, running boards and grill assembly are original and correct to the chassis. The convertible top assembly is complete with all of its latching hardware and still retains its proper dome light and headliner. The body sills are marked with the original body number 250937. The paint, interior, top  and chrome were redone at the time of restoration. They could be used as-is or refinished again. The chassis and all of its components are intact and correct. The chassis frame shows no signs of damage with good original jack points, cross members, body mounts, etc. The chassis/VIN number is 74387. The car has all of its rare trim pieces including a correct dash board with all of its proper gauges and controls, bumpers, driving lights, headlights, tail lights, etc. This is a rare opportunity to purchase an extremely desirable prewar BMW that has lots of potential at an extremely reasonable price. Less than 500 327/328 cabriolets were built between 1938 and 1940 and very few cabriolets have survived today with good original coachwork. With complete and correct examples selling in excess of 250,000.00, this provides an excellent and affordable opportunity for an astute collector of significant motorcars. The 327/328 BMWs are great driving automobiles that are eligible for a variety of vintage racing and sporting events. They are also considered Full Classics ™ by the Classic Car Club of America. This example is being offered for sale for the first time in almost 50 years. The price is 110,000.00 and it is located near Indianapolis, Indiana.
