KDirk
For Teves ABS equipped cars (88-90) both the red brake and amber ABS lights will show briefly at startup until the system hits target pressure. Usually they will go out within 15 seconds. Any longer and you may have a problem (marginal accumulator as just one example). It takes a bit for the pressure in the system to bleed down, so if you shut it off and restart it within a few minutes, the time the lights stay on will be shorter as the system doesn't take as long to build pressure. Operation on 91 is a bit different as it uses a Bosch ABS system that doesn't build high pressure to work. That said, I think both lights should show briefly at startup just to verify they are functional. Otherwise, they only show when either the parking brake is set or there is a malfunction present.KDirk
