Guest Richard D
I just repaired a delco radio for a friend after a big restoration. When I checked the radio for the last time I found one of the volume pots failed. No audio from that channel until you get close to full volume. It is a gang of 4 pots and on off switch. First I tried some contact cleaner, helped a tiny bit but is unacceptable, the carbon trace has worn away. Any chance someone has one of these stacked controls? 2 pots are volume, the other two are balance plus on off switch. They come pre stacked and theterminals solder into the circuit board except for on off which are wired in.Thank you all for your time, Richardps I will buy a non working unit since it will be for parts. TOPCAT
No audio from that channel until you get close to full volume. And if the audio is just loud enough you can hear it.......it's not the pot....it's most likely the DS-501(might have another number) output transistor. If you know how to test them i bet that is what you would find. I have NOS DS-501's and other Delco transistors for sale.Peace WildBillp.s....ex-radio repairman and electrician for Delco Radio/Electronics Edited March 4, 2015 by TOPCAT (see edit history)
