Join us in the cool springtime as we travel winding roads through gentle hills and visit country plantations, car collections and numerous other attractions. The Texas Tour is the longest-running annual tour in the Southwest, and is jointly sponsored on a rotating basis by four AACA regions and a Horseless Carriage Club region.As for the tour itself, early arrivers Thursday can choose from optional afternoon tours of a car collection, a restoration shop, a World War II B-17, and for the ladies, a chance to browse Tomball’s many antiques shops and a beautiful home furnishings store. Evening will bring a casual hamburger-and-hotdog get-together. Friday morning features car judging and a ladies' event, free time to see downtown attractions, and lunch. Afternoon brings a 50-mile driving tour to historic Montgomery, birthplace of the Texas flag and a frontier-themed downtown. We’ll visit the world-class Richard Mitchell collection of best-in-show classic cars and his Early Iron Works restoration facility, plus the beautiful Montgomery Heritage and Nature Center. Dinner and entertainment follow.Saturday includes a hundred-mile scenic backroads tour to see the 200-car Gullo Collection, then the Thomas Ranch, one of the state’s finest country homes, with a car barn, home and vineyard tour, lunch and an organ concert. Next we’ll go to the Hues Ranch to see cars and historic buildings, ride a Ferris wheel and enjoy refreshments. We close with dinner, awards and a style show. Reserve your room early. Tomball is a small town with limited motels and our room blocks expire before the tour. Mention any special needs when making your reservation. Check with the Hampton Inn (next door 100 feet away), the Comfort Inn (a couple blocks away), and the Best Value Inn (farther away but a bargain). Call the numbers listed on the first page of the registration package. And if anyone hasn't yet received the registration package, email the tour co-chairs directly at jamesandeileen@comcast.net or download one from our website at www.texastour.org. There are also rooms available at the Comfort Inn and Best Value Inn. See the initial email at bottom for more information on the 2015 Texas Tour, or go to www.texastour.org.
