Guest Tom Timmins
There does not appear to be any way to tighten the steering. Am I missing something on the sector?
Owen_Dyneto
Procedure for steering gear adjustment is given in the 1934 Service Letters. I'll scan the page and post it for you on the PAC Forum.PS - here it is: http://www.packardclub.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&p=13751#p13751And be aware that, if the steering gear box was always properly filled with gear oil (not grease), chances are greater that the play will be in the drag link and tie rod ends (which are adjustable for wear, within reason). Guest Tom Timmins
Thanks! 2 days I ordered the service letter package from Faxons. I was not sure exactly what I would find in the bulletins, but it sounds like it will be great reading material. Tom
Owen_Dyneto
You'll find good information in the 7th-12th series publication, but it is a shame that it's just excerpts cut and pasted from the originals and sometimes the context if hard to figure out. The real shame is that no one ever again reprinted the full 33/34 Service Letters. But what you want on the steering gear is in it.
