motoringicons
This 1955 Oldsmobile 88 Two Door Sedan is really a neat car. First off, it is a three-speed, column shift car. How many of those do you see? It spent most of its life in the south and appears to have always been well cared for and not abused. While it looks conservative on the outside, with its dark blue paint, black walls and "dog dish" hubcaps, this old Olds is a bit of a rocket underneath. The engine has a few small upgrades such a four-barrel carburetor, dual exhaust with glass packs and is nicely dressed with period Offy valve covers and an Edelbrock air cleaner. The car was mechanically rebuilt at the time it was restored back in 2001 to be a long distance driver and it certainly does not disappoint. The car really goes down the road nicely. The engine makes a lot of power and has a great throaty sound, the transmission is shifts great, the brakes and steering are responsive and accurate. The radial tires give a smooth ride. It is quite easy to get the speedometer past the legal speed limit and leave your friends with their boulevard cruisers in the dust. The paint, chrome and interior were redone during the restoration, and while showing some signs of use, remain extremely clean and very presentable. The body was stripped to bare metal (there are lots of photos of the restoration included) and required hardly any work. The margins and gaps are nice and even, the body lines are crisp, and the car just sits right from all angles. The glass, dashboard, carpets, door panels, seats, headliner, trunk, etc are all very clean and nicely detailed. Overall, this is a great looking car that is just an absolute blast to drive. The price is 20,000.00 and the car is located in Jefferson, WI. Clear and current title.
