If you don't have the the assembly, maybe you have the the door latch catch post. I intend taking this awesome car on a trip,but I need the door to close. Stu Allen Posted March 15, 2013 Share Posted March 15, 2013 Roscoe, Did you break the torsion spring that holds the latch in the closed position? I had that happen on a tour hundreds of miles from home on my '49 Super. I held the door closed with the seat belt for a week and had the only one-door Buick in the country.The fix when I got home was to remove the latch per the shop manual instructions, locate the broken spring, order a similar coil size and wire diameter from McMaster-Carr, modify it slightly and install it.
