Guest Mochet
I just posted this video of a 1915 Metz touring car at the 2011 Metz Gathering in Waltham, Ma.Phil
trimacar
Nice looking car, a lot of fun.Cranking with both hands is fairly dangerous, I would hope the owner would either modify his technique, or find out and fix the reason the engine's so hard to turn over. Guest Mochet
From the video, I think his choke control rod stuck. He taps it and the car starts right up. Another thing with the Metz '22' is that its Bosch DU4 Model 2 magneto had no spark control lever.Phil
trimacar
Hi- my '10 Hupp has the same Bosch DU4, so can't retard timing on it either. You have to be very positive in your cranking, it can kick back if you don't pull through quickly.....but the video shows him grabbing crank with both hands, which is not a good technique.... Guest Mochet
How did you set your timing on the Huppmobile? I assume it must be slightly retarded, but by how much?Phil
