Guest frenchy1932
I will need to have my 6 volts coil set up for 12 volts. Does any one knows of anybody who does this conversion. Do I need to use a resistor between the coil and the ignition and who makes one. Any help is appreciated on these two subjects.Thank You Frenchy ( Doctor Detail )
abelincoln
I suspect the coil won't last too long at 12 volts. I'm building a 12-6 volt transistor regulator to run the coil at 6 volts. I tried a 1.8 ohm NAPA resistor between the 12 volt battery and the ignition resistor. Engine ran OK, but only had 3 volts going into the original ignition resistor. System seems to draw about 6 amps to the points. My dream solution is to adapt a crank trigger wheel to the front of the engine with two pickups to run two ignition computers, one for each bank, with individual coils for each cylinder, or two cylinders per coil as Ford now uses.Abe
