DodgeMain
Can someone out there in Dodge Brothers land talk me through removing the generator from a Victory Six? Does the front timing cover have to be removed? Thanks in advance for you help.
Guest imported_RAH
Hi, Your Victory 6 and the Standard 6 engines are identical (except for serial number). The generator is secured with three bolts. Two on top and one on the bottom. You will note there is a spacer between the generator and the engine to which a oil line is fastened. Being very careful to maintain position of that spacer and its proximity to the engine carefully separate between the generator and that spacer. There is a drive pully riding on the front of that spacer so do not let it slide back such as to loosen the chain or engine timing could be compromised. There is a series of blades forming a coupler on the shaft of the generator that projects into a slot in that gear riding on that spacer. After removing the generator replace the bolts through that spacer so as to retain tension on the drive chain. Good Luck.I hope this helps.
