axle....is it a studebaker?

hi guys, i posted this in the id forum but someone near me here said this was from a studebaker......but i dont believe him....what do you think? tires are 6.00x 16 but no markings anywhere on wheels or axle.......thks.....ross

Here is a photo of a 1930 Studebaker front axle / hub detail, note the mechanical brake linkage attached to top of axle forging. The one you show may be from a mid 30's vehicle that had hydraulic brakes originally but it is considerably "Lighter weight" than the 1930 version. Stude8

Mid 30's Studebakers did use a transverse leaf spring front suspension but I am not familiar with those years much. If you could scrape around on the axle with a wire brush and try to locate a 6 digit part number that would make identifying it much easier. Actually any casting numbers would indicate if it was a Studebaker item and I could track them down in my part catalog library. Stude8
