Guest Galaxie63
Hi all, I haven't posted to this group before, Iv'e been mostly on the Stutz list. I have a friend that's looking at what he thinks is a 47 Commander. Is there someplace that I can get some help on a body ID number? He gave me this serial number from the drivers door jamb, but I can't find any info anywhere. It's # 4357677. Any help appreciated in getting this old Baker a new home.Thanx, Phil
Guest imported_Bill-W
Postwar Commander serial number sequences for 1947-1949, built at South Bend :1947 : 4,232,501 to 4,286,9451948 : 4,287,001 to 4,360,7431949 : 4,361,001 to 4,398,469YOur friends #, 4,357,667, makes it a late production 1948 Studebaker Commander. There should be a tag attached to the cowl, engine side, with the model number which for 1948 is 15A.BillVancouver, BC
Guest Galaxie63
Bill, thanx so much for giving me some ID clues. This car has no engine so we didn't have much to go on there. Sounds like it's a 48 then. Thanx again! Phil
