Guest imported_raywilks Posted October 1, 2005 Share Posted October 1, 2005 i need passenger side subject pan in steel. have reasom to believe exhaust pipe is heating up starter and causing "drag" after short run times. picture shows built in heat shield on pan{i think]. have nice trading material or appreciate help to slightly overweight senior citizen{old fat guy]with cash in hand. many thanks, ray wilks. forgot, its a '48 LC. Guest imported_V12Bill Posted October 2, 2005 Share Posted October 2, 2005 Ray, I bought both splash pans a couple of years ago from someone who advertised them in The Way of the Zephyr. I don't recall his name but I believe he was from Washington or Oregon. The price was $75. each and they were excellent reproductions. The right side is not going to shield your starter from the exhaust heat as the pan stops just at the front edge of the starter. I had hot restart problems with my V 12 and cured the problem by getting a Jake Fleming rebuilt coil. To check the coil, short out a spark plug with a screwdriver when the engine is warm.
