History of Fire Truck

Present owner Robert P. Lorenz

Purchased Sept 25, 1977 from Earl Hines of Cicero Illinois. Fire Truck located in Knox Ind. By Bass Lake. Info received from Mr. Hines was that he had purchased the Fire Truck in Round Lake, Illinois area. Mr. Hines stated that the person he got it from in the Round Lake area said it came from somewhere in Wisconsin.

The Graham Brothers chassis is a 1926 and the pump test from Pirsch agrees with the date of 1926. However in doing research on Graham Brothers found out Graham didn't make a 6 cylinder engine until mid 1927. Further research showed that all GB trucks made in 1926 had 4 Cylinder Dodge Brothers engines in them. In talking with some of the Peter Pirsch collectors and some other knowledgeable persons on Hale Rotary Dreadnaught pumps there is to be a extreme load on the engine when these pumps are used. To the best of our knowledge and our best guess it appears that either Pirsch or Graham or the Fire Department replaced the 4 cylinder with the Graham 6 cylinder in 1928 because of lack of power from the 4 cylinder DB engine. This is based on the, and agrees with the date stamped on the top rear of the engine of Mar 1, 28
