Guest
In 1945 my uncle landed in California on his way home from the war.My aunt traveled from New Hampshire to the west coast to meet him. They bought a 1937 Studebaker four door convertable and drove it back to New Hampshire. It was a beautiful large car with a six cylinder engine. It had removable posts between the front and rear doors for the top to rest on and to support and seal the door windows when they were rolled up. It also had a vacuum shift with the shift lever which was about eight inches long mounted on the dash about in the center. This vacuum shift always gave trouble. Can any one tell me what model this car was and are there any others like it in existance or any pictures of this car? Guest imported_GeorgeCagle
Greetings, As far as I know, there were no convertibles built by Studebaker in 1937. They did build them again starting in 1938. Commanders had the 6 cylinder engines and you can find a few pictures at the Antique Studebaker Club site:http://www.antiquestudebakerclub.com/1935-40.htmThe four door convertibles are all rare and highly collectible today.
