Crusty Trucker
You might want to recheck your source for identifying this wheel. The center section is not '49 - '51 Mrecury as they had larger hubcaps that fit on lugs (knobs, bumps?) like the ones on your green wheels in the other ad. 5 1/2" lug diameter fits '40 - '48 Ford and Mercury passenger cars and Ford pickups from '40 to at least 1972 (and maybe beyond), but were mostly "16 wheels. '46 - '48 Mercs may have been 15" diameter with this center design**. Later year pick ups (1960's -1970's) moved to the larger hubcap design and retained the 5 1/2 lug diameter. Passenger cars changed to the larger hubcap and the smaller lug diameter(4 1/2") in 1949. '49 - '51 passenger cars had either 15" or 16" wheels depending on the model or customer option (again, with larger hubcap centers and smaller 4 1/2" lug diameter). Clear as mud, right? ** 1949 - 1951 Mercurys had 15" wheels with 5 1/2" lug diameters. Their hubcaps were slightly larger diameter and only fit on these wheels. They were quite popular back in the day to convert older Ford cars and trucks to 15" wheels. Reversing the centers was popular for a deeper dish appearance. I have owned numerous Ford cars and trucks of this era and am quite familiar with them. Hope I am correct and this note helps you market the wheels.
