26 starter/generator

I'm having trouble with my starter/generator 12 volt, It doesn't seem to be charging and keeps blowing the fuse. I checked the brushes and they seem to be fine the adjustment is as loose as I can get it but it still blows the fuses. Any info on what I can do to stop it from blowing fuses and get it to charge would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

The first thing is to make sure that you do not have a short in the wireing.( a bad connection, bare wire)Then have the starter/generator check out to see if it is putting outno more then 8amps at fast idle.
